Ethel Jaffé Margolis
NEWPORT NEWS - Ethel
Jaffé Margolis, 94, died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Riverside Regional
Convalescent Center. She was born in Russia and moved to the U.S. as a baby,
becoming a naturalized citizen. Mrs. Margolis retired from civil service at Ft.
Eustis in 1989 as a grading clerk with 21 years of service where she received
the Civilian Distinguished Service Medal. She was member of Temple Sinai. Mrs.
Margolis was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Rueben Margolis. She
is survived by her sons, Joel Margolis and his wife, Robin, of Woodbridge, and
Larry Margolis of Hampton; her daughter, Marilyn Wasserman and her husband,
Allan, of Decatur, Ga.; her sisters, Shirley Peltz of Newport News, Rosemae
Castleton of Laguna Hills, Calif., and Lillian Klaff of Bet El, Israel; her four
grandchildren, Geri Margolis, Lenny, Sharon and Jay Wasserman; three
great-grandchildren; and her dear friend and companion, Joyce Scott. A graveside
service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, at Peninsula Memorial
Park by Rabbi Scott Gurdin of Temple Sinai. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to Temple Sinai, 11620 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23607. Arrangements
