ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA - Helen Rachel Stewart Webb, St. Augustine, Florida Helen Rachel Webb, 83, of St. Augustine, Florida, and formerly of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on August 10, 2014 after a fall. Helen Rachel Stewart was born January 21, 1931 in at her family home in Grassy Island, Anson County, North Carolina. She grew up in Wadesboro, North Carolina. She had a brother, Frederick and sister, Carolyn. She graduated from Hampton High School in Hampton, Virginia in 1949. She worked for the C&P telephone company. She married Nathaniel Jarrett Webb, Jr. on June 16, 1956 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Newport News, Virginia. They later divorced. For many years she taught the Kindergarten Sunday School Class at Trinity United Methodist Church, as her mother-in-law, Lalie Lett Webb, had before her. Helen worked for 20 years for the Newport News Waterworks. She worked as a poll worker during elections. When she retired she moved to St. Augustine, Florida, where she lived at the time of her death. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn C. Bowers of Sacramento California, her ex-husband Jerry Webb of Newport News, Virginia, and her four children and six grandchildren: Nathaniel Jarrett Webb, III, a lawyer, and his wife Cynthia and their two children Sarah Afton Webb and Nathaniel Jarrett Webb, IV all of whom reside in York County, Virginia; James Rives Webb, an accountant, who resides in St. Augustine, Florida; Martha Anne Webb, an Assistant Representative, and her husband, Kevin W. Andersen, and their two children Emily Noelle Andersen and Theodore Rives Andersen all of whom reside in Wadsworth, Illinois.; Mary Elizabeth Webb, is a Captain in the Army, and her two children, Alexander Itzkowitz and Evelyn Itzkowitz. Mary Beth is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where she and her children now make their home. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mildred Violet Sellers and James Arthur Stewart, her brother, Frederick Stewart, and one grandchild, Jonathan Christian Andersen.
A memorial service will be
held on Saturday, August 16, 2914 at 2:00 o'clock at Trinity United
Methodist Church 228, 29th Street, Newport News, Virginia. |
