Mrs. Nettles
lived the in The Chesapeake (Virginia
Baptist Home) on Harpersville Road the last few years of her life. My
mom lived there as well and I was there several times a week. I saw Mrs. Nettles often and would sit and talk to her about NNHS. She knew who I was at first but as time went on she would call me Brownie and then correct herself. She was still lovely and sweet and would hold my hand and talk abut her years at NNHS. She said she was so blessed to have so many young people that she loved. I assured her that we were the ones who were blessed and she was loved by so many. The last time I saw her she kissed my hand and told me she had such a wonderful life and NNHS was a big part of her joy. I didn't know that would be the last time I would see her. Now I am in tears. - Wanda Thornhill Gatewood ('62)

I had Mrs. Nettles as a teacher and enjoyed our classes! To my remembrance she was one of my best teachers - and always had a smile on her face! - Butch

Mrs. Nettles was my Biology teacher and
one of the nicest teachers--if not the absolute nicest--at
NNHS!! Saw her many times in the 70's/80's and
she always remembered my name!! For good reasons!!
