Mrs. Nettles lived the in The Chesapeake (Virginia Baptist Home) on Harpersville Road the last few years of her life. My mom lived there as well and I was there several times a week.
I saw Mrs. Nettles often and would sit and talk to her about
NNHS. She knew who I was at first but as time went on she would call me Brownie and then correct herself.
She was still lovely and sweet and would hold my hand and talk abut her years at NNHS. She said she was so blessed to have so many young people that she loved.
I assured her that we were the ones who were blessed and she was loved by so many.
The last time I saw her she kissed my hand and told me she had such a wonderful life and NNHS was a big part of her joy.
I didn't know that would be the last time I would see her. Now I am in tears.

Thanks, Wanda!

I had Mrs. Nettles as a teacher and enjoyed our classes! To my remembrance she was one of my best teachers - and always had a smile on her face!

Thanks, Butch!

Mrs. Nettles was my Biology teacher and one of the nicest teachers--if not the absolute nicest--at NNHS!! Saw her many times in the 70's/80's and she always remembered my name!! For good reasons!!

Thanks, Wayne!

My favorite along with Mrs. Nelson, Librarian.
I saw Mrs. Nettles in a doctor's office about 15 years ago and she remembered me also. I thought she was the best ever.
I had to have my appendix operation the year I was in her class and I was so lucky that I did not have to dissect the frog in order to pass.
One of my best buddies, Russell Maynard, was in that class with me. When he died in our Senior year it tore me apart, as it did many; he was so well loved by so many...
