Cool to see my aunt's beauty salon honored within  your recent newsletters.
'Ruth Staples House of Beauty' on Kecoughtan Road was our Aunt.  She is still residing
in Hampton, although up in years.  She had two glass containers of nickel 'Nap' crackers
up towards the cashier, and a glass bottled coke machine in the back.  She raised three
children by herself and was a strong woman.  Her shop was across from Woolworth's, where I
bought my first Beatles poster, and down from her shop was a great duck pin bowling alley -
where my brother Steve (Kiger - '66 - of VA) and cousin Ronald Staples (HHS  - '68?) took me!

- Gail Kiger Bonsey (Ferguson HS - '73) of OR - 01/12/05
Thanks, Gail!

Brenda Staples' (Hampton HS - '60) mother owned Ruth Staples House of Beauty in Wythe.
Brenda always had blonde hair, but she attended either a prom or some other school dance
with pink hair to match her dress. While different color hair on girls today is common,
not so back then.......but WHO was going to tell beautiful Brenda that it looked odd??

- Gloria Woolard Price (Hampton HS - '65) of FL - 06/26/06
GIGGLES!!! Thanks, Gloria!

Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

(Shania Twain)

I'm going out tonight-I'm feelin' alright
Gonna let it all hang out
Wanna make some noise-really raise my voice
Yeah, I wanna scream and shout

No inhibitions-make no conditions
Get a little outta line
I ain't gonna act politically correct
I only wanna have a good time

The best thing about being a woman
Is the prerogative to have a little fun and...

Oh, oh, oh, go totally crazy-forget I'm a lady
Men's shirts-short skirts
Oh, oh, oh, really go wild-yeah, doin' it in style
Oh, oh, oh, get in the action-feel the attraction
Color my hair-do what I dare
Oh, oh, oh, I wanna be free-yeah, to feel the way I feel
Man! I feel like a woman!

The girls need a break-tonight we're gonna take
The chance to get out on the town
We don't need romance-we only wanna dance
We're gonna let our hair hang down

The best thing about being a woman
Is the prerogative to have a little fun and...

Oh, oh, oh, go totally crazy-forget I'm a lady
Men's shirts-short skirts
Oh, oh, oh, really go wild-yeah, doin' it in style
Oh, oh, oh, get in the action-feel the attraction
Color my hair-do what I dare
Oh, oh, oh, I wanna be free-yeah, to feel the way I feel
Man! I feel like a woman!

Man! I feel like a woman!

I get totally crazy
Can you feel it
Come, come, come on baby
I feel like a woman
