Our Places of Worship

This page is an outgrowth of "Our Old Stomping Grounds". As so much of the material on this web site is concerned with old memories,
it was only a natural to include them. While at first I had intended to only cover the "old historic buildings", it becomes increasingly difficult to draw the line.
Therefore, no such line exists, other than the fact that either the building, the congregation, or both must have existed between 1955 and 1972.

NOTE: If you do not see your own House of Worship listed herein, I intended no slight. Please email me at NNHS65@yahoo.com,
and I shall be delighted to include it. I will create and post them all as quickly as I am able. In addition, your images and memories are earnestly solicited. Thanks!

I attended Ivy Memorial Baptist when I was a teenager and have wonderful memories of that church and the people there.

- Jean Poole Burton ('64) of RI - 02/20/03
Thanks, Jean!

Just an update on Riverside Baptist Church on River Road.
This beautiful church and its people are very much alive and active.

Jerry and I began attending when we moved back to NN 5 years ago.
We reconnected with some Typhoons there, too.
Larry Puckett ('63) and Dianne Adams Puckett ('65) and their wonderful family are there.
Carolyn Webb Goss ('65) was playing the piano ( surprise) and a long time member
until relocating recently to either Suffolk or Smithfield--Memory a little clouded.

- Judy Phillips Allen ('66) of VA - 07/21/04
Thanks, Judy!

Every Sperm Is Sacred

- Monty Python

There are Jews in the world, there are Buddhists
There are Hindus, and Mormons, and then
There are those that follow Mohammed but
I've never been one of them.

I'm a Roman Catholic
And have been since before I were born
And the one thing they say about Catholics is
They'll take you as soon as you're warm

You don't have to be a six footer
You don't have to have a great brain
You don't have to have any clothes on
You're a Catholic the moment Dad came
Because

Every sperm is sacred
Every sperm is great
If a sperm is wasted
God gets quite irate

Every sperm is sacred
Every sperm is great
If a sperm is wasted
God gets quite irate

Let the heathen spill theirs
On the dusty ground
God shall make them pay
For each sperm that can't be found

Every sperm is wanted
Every sperm is good
Every sperm is needed
In your neighborhood

Hindu, Taoist, Mormon
Spill theirs just anywhere
But God loves those who treat their
Semen with more care

Every sperm is sacred
Every sperm is great
If a sperm is wasted
God gets quite irate

Every sperm is sacred
Every sperm is good
Every sperm is needed
In your neighborhood

Every sperm is useful
Every sperm is fine
God needs everybody's
Mine, and mine, and mine

Let the pagans spill theirs
O'er mountain, hill and plain
God shall strike them down for
Each sperm that's spilt in vain

Every sperm is sacred
Every sperm is good
Every sperm is needed
In your neighborhood

Every sperm is sacred
Every sperm is great
If a sperm is wasted
God gets quite irate
