In one of the other Newsletters you were talking about hot dogs. Did anyone ever eat hot dogs up the street from school? One place was named Art's, and just past it was Spanos. It was run by a father and mother who had two sons that went to NNHS. I remember going in Spanos to eat a hot dog and Mr. Spanos would have about 5 or 6 hot dogs lined up on his arm going with mustard, onions, and chili, then hand them over to Mrs. Spanos to wrap up in paper. They sure were good.

Thanks, Glenn! I did some checking, and found that Nick Spanos
belonged to the Class of 1956,
and Constantino Spanos was a member of the Class of 1960.
Also located on 31st Street was Mike’s Grill at 212-31st. It was owned by Mike and Mary Spanos.
In 1965, here is ... 212-31st - M S Hot Dog (I am guessing that “M S” is Mike Spanos)

Thanks
so much,
Dave!
..... My real reason for writing this time is to say many thanks
to good old "Dave Spriggs" and the info he passed on about the local hot dog
stands. I have been following the weekly discussion about the old eateries and
was beginning to think I was going "MAD"!
I kept remembering "Mike's Hot Dog Stand", but no one seemed to remember it;
then sure enough Dave comes up with it. I had checked a Google Sat Map on
Sunday and remembered the Hot Dog Stand was located just up the street on 31st
Street; but of course I see that location is now a parking lot!
MY VOTE IS FOR MIKE'S! To this day I feel his HD's were the best!

Oh, I wish I
were an Oscar Mayer wiener.
That is what I'd truly like to be,
'Cause if I were an Oscar Mayer wiener,
Everyone would be in love with me.
