Here is Kitt/Temple of Music
... well, it is still a temple of sorts.

In 1957 when I
had just turned ten, it was time for me to begin band lessons at
Magruder School
under the direction of Ms. Doris Hutton.
I had looked forward to this moment for some time with eager anticipation.
I told my daddy, who had played cornet at John Marshall High in Richmond (Class
of 1925),
that I wanted to play my favorite instrument - a French horn. He was
aghast.
In a long talk which was eons away from political correctness,
he carefully explained to me that "boys don't like girls in their brass class".
He suggested that I pick something from the woodwind family.
Having seen what not having a working reed can do to your performance,
I looked towards something which didn't require reeds. And that is how I
decided upon a flute.
Mama and I went to Kitt Music Company, and picked out a nice silver Armstrong
student flute.
It cost $111.00, and has served me well for these last 47 years. I still
play publicly it from time to time.
