Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   There's still more sad news to finish out the year.
June Stall Wolfley, Class of June 1951, sister of David Stall of SC, and of the late  Bob Stall, Floyd Stall, and Nelson Stall ('53), passed away in Newport News on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 85.

                   June Stall Wolfley

NEWPORT NEWS - June Beryl Stall Wolfley, 85, of Newport News, Virginia, went to be with her Lord Sunday, December 30, 2018.

June was born August 7, 1933 in Newport News to Roland R. Stall, Sr. and Iola Byrd Stall. She graduated from Newport News High School.

She met her husband, William (Bill) Wolfley when they were both employed at the Newport News Shipyard, she in the Aetna Insurance office and he in the piping design department. They were married for 49 years until his death in 2002. She was a lifelong resident of the Peninsula, residing in Deer Park for 55 years.

June is survived by her children, Loyd and Terri Wolfley of Dunkirk, MD, and Gwen and Harold Carl of Kansas City, MO; her grandchildren, Ashton Wolfley of Annapolis, MD, and Joshua and Anna Carl of Olathe, KS; and her two great grandchildren, Rose and Isaiah Carl.

She is also survived by her brother, David G. Stall of Florence, SC.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Roland R. Stall, Jr., Floyd M. Stall, and Nelson B. Stall.

June loved using her musical gifts in worship. She served as the organist of Pear Avenue First Friends Church (later First Friends Church of Hampton) for more than 50 years. In her later years, she enjoyed singing with the HeartThrobs and playing in the handbell choir at Liberty Baptist Church.

In keeping with June's wishes, there will be no funeral.

You may celebrate June's life with a donation to Gideons International to provide Bibles (Newport News Camp, P.O. Box 6373, Newport News, VA 23606). Bill and June were faithful partners in this ministry for many years.

Asleep in Jesus

Music by William B. Bradbury (06 Oct 1816 - 07 Jan 1868)

Words by Margaret Mackay (1801/2 - 05 Jan 1887), 1832

Asleep in Jesus! Blessèd sleep,
From which none ever wakes to weep;
A calm and undisturbed repose,
Unbroken by the last of foes.

Asleep in Jesus! Oh, how sweet,
To be for such a slumber meet,
With holy confidence to sing
That death has lost his venomed sting!

Asleep in Jesus! Peaceful rest,
Whose waking is supremely blessed;
No fear, no woe, shall dim that hour
That manifests the Savior’s power.

Asleep in Jesus! Oh, for me
May such a blessèd refuge be!
Securely shall my ashes lie
And wait the summons from on high.

Asleep in Jesus! time nor space
Debars this precious “hiding place”;
On Indian plains or Lapland snows
Believers find the same repose.

Asleep in Jesus! Far from thee
Thy kindred and their graves may be;
But there is still a blessèd sleep,
From which none ever wakes to weep.
