   We have yet another sad edition of the NNHS Newsletter today.  Ralph Cooper passed away in Newport News at the age of 80.

NEWPORT NEWS - Ralph Carlton Cooper, 80, a Newport News native, and lifelong Peninsula resident, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2007.

Ralph retired in 1984 from C&P Telephone Co. with more than 36 years of service. He served in the Army in Italy during WWII, and as a reservist, was later re-called to serve in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a Newport News High School graduate and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse & Marie Cooper; and his brother, Alfred Cooper.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Constance Wright Cooper; three sons, Brian Cooper and his wife, Kathleen, Eric Cooper and his wife, Mary Jo, and Glenn Cooper; his brother, Howard Cooper; and three grandchildren, Eric, Jonathan, and Hannah.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at the Weymouth Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Frederick Guy at 11a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, in Peninsula Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church, 6812 River Road, Newport News, VA 23607, or The American Cancer Society, 11835 Cannon Blvd, Suite A-102, Newport News, VA 23606.
