Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

This Newsletter is reaching you later than it should had I been diligent, and for that I am deeply sorry.

From Cookie Phillips Tyndall ('64) of VA - 12/30/05:

Carol,

Charlie ('65 - of TN) and I lost our Dad last week.  Here is the notice from the Daily Press.

Ohhh, Cookie!  I'm so very sorry to learn this - and the fact that I didn't see it all earlier only intensifies my sorrow.  Please know that you and your entire big, wonderful family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you, Uncle Clifford, for the many wonderful memories. I will always warmly recall your humor and infectious laughter, your devotion to family, and your strong principles of loyalty and honor. Families are meant to be together forever, and one day, we will all be sharing laughter and fellowship again. With love,

Dad, as I reflect I realize the gifts you gave me. You taught me strength, perseverance, and drive. These have served me well. You, also, instilled in me a strong work ethic which I have always followed. I am my Father's daughter. Dad, you are the strongest man I have ever known. I love you.

When I was a small child (the youngest of six) I called my brothers "my boys"...Clifford was the youngest and we were very close. I have fond memories that would fill many books about him ...he was always so kind, considerate and loving to his family members and friends, a dedicated husband and father. He and Buena were an example of what marriage is all about and his wonderful children reflect that fact.
I am happy to be his sister and to have been a part of his life. I shall always have a special place in my heart for him and his family.
My love and sympathy to his precious wife, Buena and to all his children, grand children and great grand children...Yes, we will miss him. And I loved him very much.

Dad, I cannot express how much I will miss you. You were my beacon and you made me a man. When I look in the mirror I see you and when I do certain things it reminds me of you. Thanks for being there. I always felt secure as a child due to you. I will always love you and will see you in heaven. Your son, Charles C. Phillips, Jr.

My love for Uncle Clifford, Aunt Buena, and my wonderful cousins can not be expressed adequately here, but I will still say "I love you". I will never forget the many times of love and laughter shared. I feel blessed with a last visit with a special uncle who still shared a sense of humor and made me laugh. I look forward to an eternity of happy times when we meet again. God bless you all!
