Samuel Leroy Keffer, III
(1946 - 27 Dec 2015)

Newport News High School Class of 1965

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

We have sad news again this Tuesday morning.      Sammy Keffer, Class of 1965, brother of Catherine Keffer of VA, passed away in Newport News on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Keffer (31 Dec 1918 - 01 July 1997), and his father, Leroy Keffer (d. 27 Feb 2005).

I actually remember Sammy more clearly from     Mrs. Leyland's   sixth grade class at Bankhead Magruder School than I do from high school. My deepest condolences to his family.

Come, Ye Disconsolate

Words by Thomas Moore; alt. by Thomas Hastings
Music by Samuel Webbe

Come, ye disconsolate, where'er ye languish.
Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel.
Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish;
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Joy of the desolate, light of the straying,
Hope of the penitent, fadeless and pure!
Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying,
"Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot cure."

Here see the bread of life; waters flowing
Forth from the throne of God, pure from above.
Come to the feast of love; come, ever knowing
Earth has no sorrow but heaven can remove.
