12/12/19 - NNHS Newsletter - Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
“Am I not here, I, who am your Mother? Are
you not under my shadow and protection?
Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing
of my arms? Do you need anything more? Let nothing else worry you, disturb you.”
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
This is another Catholic holiday we're all celebrating together like the big Typhoon family we've become.

Checking in at the surgical suite with brother Harry. Prayers for a successful outcome of the robotic surgery with Dr. Kates starting about noon...
Surgeon Dr. Kates just reported Harry did extremely well in surgery, very little blood lost. Will be waking him up and I’ll be able to see him. “He needed this surgery!” Dr. Kates said. Thanks for the prayers. More later...
Harry was awake and alert this morning, complaining about being sore - well?
He’s over the hard part, now to heal and make the most of his body renewal. His
first cup of coffee was at noon, he was to get up and try walking the corridor
about 1 pm. He is optimistic and agreed my assurance of great care is occurring

|“This Christmas, mend
a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it
with trust. Write a letter. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth.
Manifest your loyalty in word and deed. Keep a promise. Forgo a grudge.
Forgive an enemy. Apologize. Try to understand. Examine your demands on
others. Think first of someone else. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little
more. Express your gratitude. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a
child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your
love and then speak it again.”

Thanks so much, Susan!

From Jimmy Dick ('65) of FL - 12/12/19, @ 6:15 AM:
Time is really flying and wow, here we are on Thursday, December
12th and it's less than two weeks until Christmas.
This morning as my wife and I had our daily morning Bible reading focusing on the Book of Luke, we read Chapter 5 and in it was the story of Jesus filling the nets of the fishermen after they previously had a night of no catch and were discouraged. It reminded me of a story I remember about earlier days in my life on the Chesapeake Bay...
Stories are such a good way to bring the Good News of the Bible to others. All we have to do is open our hearts along with our ears and they can tell us so much about His grace, love and the gift of Salvation that he readily offers...
Have a blessed morning with a smile on your face and a warm heart. It's Christmastime, be kind and loving toward all you meet today.
Thank you, Jimmy! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Alma Redemptoris Mater
|Loving Mother of our Savior
Ascribed to Hermannus Contractus, d.1054
Redemptoris Mater, quae pervia caeli
Porta manes, et stella maris, succurre cadenti,
Surgere qui curat, populo: tu quae genuisti,
Natura mirante, tuum sanctum Genitorem
Virgo prius ac posterius, Gabrielis ab ore
Sumens illud Ave, peccatorum miserere.
Mother of Him who thee made from nothing made.
Sinking we strive and call to thee for aid:
Oh, by what joy which Gabriel brought to thee,
Thou Virgin first and last, let us thy mercy see.
