From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 12/06/09 (but only discovered 12/11/09) - "RE: 12/06/09 - Happy St. Nicholas Day":

So, was        Sepi (Dimples Dinwiddie Prichard - '58 - of NC) telling us that her computer was FUBAR and went Tango Uniform??

WILD BLUSHING GIGGLES!!! You know, Captain, I rather think she was!

When we first moved to Fayetteville nearly eight years ago, we would frequently pass a saloon near Fort Bragg with a large eye-catching sign called "FUBAR Tavern". Never having heard the term, I asked one of the young soldiers at church about its curious name. After some stammering and trying to dismiss me with, "It's, uh, a military acronym," he finally was able to deftly convey to me its actual meaning. It was some time later before I was to learn the meaning of Tango Uniform.

Thanks for the unexpected chuckle, David!

TOTAL: 129 ONE HUNDRED TWENTY NINE!

The Jews are NOT promoting brain washing children in military training camps, teaching them how to blow themselves up and cause maximum deaths of Jews and other non Muslims!
The Jews don't hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics, or blow themselves up in German restaurants.
There is NOT one single Jew who has destroyed a church.
There is NOT a single Jew who protests by killing people.
The Jews don't traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels.
Perhaps the world's Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.
Muslims must ask "what can they do for humankind" before they demand that humankind respects them!!

Regardless of your feelings about the crisis between Israel and the Palestinians and Arab neighbors, even if you believe there is more culpability on Israel's part, the following two sentences really say it all:

"If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence.
If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel."
-Benjamin Netanyahu

Thank you so much, Dicky! This is eye-opening, but certainly not at all surprising!

  From Joyce Lawrence Cahoon ('65) of VA - 12/08/09 - "Psalm 46: 10":

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Angels have walked beside me all my life--and they still do.

*********************

This is to all of you who

Mean something to me,
I pray for your happiness.
The Candle Of Love, Hope & Friendship

This candle was lit on the 15th of September, 1998.

Someone who loves you has helped keep it alive by sending it to you.
Don't let The Candle of Love, Hope and Friendship die!

May God richly bless you as you keep this candle burning.

God Bless you!
 Joyce Cahoon

   Thank you, Joyce!

From George Helliesen ('61) of MI - 12/10/09 - "Stay Young":

We all need to read this one over and over until it becomes part of who we are!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Try everything twice.  On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:
Tried everything twice...loved it both times!

2. Keep only cheerful friends.   The grouches pull you down.  ( Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches.)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever.
Never let the brain get idle.'  An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is
with us our entire life, is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love: Whether it's family, pets,
keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, or a trip to the next county or a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.  I love you, my special friend.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance.

Remember! Lost time can never be found.

  AMEN! Thanks so much, George!

FINALLY:

From ArcaMax Jokes - 12/10/09:

Real Politics

Two political candidates were having a hot debate.

Finally, one of them jumped up and yelled at the other, "What about the powerful interest that controls you?"

And the other guy screamed back, "You leave my wife out of this!"

*************

Contact Lens

The teenager lost a contact lens while playing basketball in his driveway. After a fruitless search, he told his mother the lens was nowhere to be found.

Undaunted, she went outside and in a few minutes, returned with the lens in her hand.

"How did you manage to find it, Mom?" the teenager asked.

"We weren't looking for the same thing," she replied.

"You were looking for a small piece of plastic. I was looking for $150."

*************

The Speeder

A Police Officer pulls over a speeder and walks up to the driver.

The driver says "I'm late for work, Officer; I'm sorry I was speeding"

The cop says, "Late for work are you ... well, I'll write you a late note."

Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah

Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah
The sweet celebration
Around the feast we gather
in complete jubilation

Many are the reasons for good cheer
Now that the Season of Lights is here
Many are the reasons for good cheer
Now that the Season of Lights is here

Together we'll weather
whatever tomorrow may bring
So hear us rejoicing and merrily voicing
the Hanukkah song that we sing
So hear us rejoicing and merrily voicing
the Hanukkah song that we sing

Oh Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah
The Festival of Joy
A holiday, a jolly day
for every girl and boy
Whirling dreidels all week long
Eating latkes, singing songs
Whirling dreidels all week long
Eating latkes, singing songs

Now light them, tonight then
The candles all in a row
Retell the story of God in his glory
and dance by the flickering glow
Retell the story and God in his glory
dance by the flickering glow
