Melissa Holmes Moody
Newport News High School Class of 1967
Friends and Schoolmates,
I was stunned to read in the Sunday paper this sad if slightly belated news. Melissa Moody, Class of 1967, passed away in Newport News on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the age of 68.
She was the sister of the late Jimmy Moody ('61).
From Marty Whitmore McCoy ('67) of VA - 12/04/17, 6:19 PM - "Sad News":
|It is with great sadness to let you know that Melissa Moody passed away. It was peaceful and found like she was asleep in her bed on Sunday, November 26, 2017. We are so thankful she was at the 50th Reunion in September and enjoyed seeing and connecting with old friends. Some have been in touch with her nephew in Texas and details are still being worked out. We as classmates and friends hope to get together after the first of the year in memory of Melissa. We will post something to let you know if you want to attend after plans are made.|

|Update on the information for Melissa Moody. There won't be any more obituary in the newspaper. Her nephew in Texas is working on things. Friends and classmates will do something in memory of Melissa after the first of the year and will keep you all posted.|
Carol.........I was shocked to hear about Melissa. Although I had not seen her
in many years she held a special place in my heart. Growing up in
Stuart Gardens we were childhood friends
and I actually had my first date with her. Don't remember where we went but my
dad drove us and picked us up. Later we worked together at a local company and
once we were at a company meeting out of town and we talked and laughed about
growing up. We stayed up til 2 a.m. She was so much fun. What a wonderful memory
I have of her.
Thank you so much, Barry.
This information is also posted here:
Y'all take good care of each other! TYPHOONS FOREVER! We'll Always Have Buckroe!
Love to all, Carol

Abide With Me
Words by Henry F. Lyte, 1847
Music by William H. Monk, 1861
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word,
But as Thou dwell'st with Thy disciples, Lord,
Familiar, condescending, patient, free.
Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.
Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings;
Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea.
Come, Friend of sinners, thus abide with me.
Thou on my head in early youth didst smile,
And though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee.
On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.
I need Thy presence every passing hour.
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
