Please accept my sincere condolences. My two brothers and I grew up with Danny as we knew him as young boys. We spent many days together on the James River hanging out at Red's Pier. I also worked with him for many years. He was always up beat and fun to be around. He truly will be missed.

I have many great memories of hunting with Avery and my dad. He was a funny but tough guy and always had us laughing like crazy with his sense of humor and his antics. I will look back on those times and smile when I think of Avery Thomas. Rest in peace, friend.

My sympathy goes out to the family. I served with this Marine during the 60's. May God comfort his family during this stressful time.

Amazing Grace

Words by John Newton, 1779
(24 July 1725 21 Dec 1807)

 Amazing grace! (how sweet the sound)
That sav'd a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev'd;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ'd!

Thro' many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis'd good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call'd me here below,
Will be forever mine.
