Dear Friends and Schoolmates,  

   There is even more sad news this Thursday morning.  
  Robin Tyburski Sofikitis, widow of Mike Sofikitis, Class of 1961, passed away at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the age of 56.

NEWPORT NEWS - Elaine Robin Tyburski Sofikitis, 56, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

She was a lifelong resident of Newport News where she owned several small businesses. She was the former owner and operator of Anchor Pools and Robins Pools and owned Denbigh Auto Sales along with her husband, Michael Sofikitis.

Robin was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Sofikitis; and her father, John C. Tyburski.

She is survived by her parents, Willodae and Gene Sternfield; her three brothers, John, Steve and Robert Tyburski; her sisters, Claudia Maydanis and Lisa Sternfield.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Linwood Wells of Hilton Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.

My husband and I did business with Robin when she was at Anchor Pool and Robins Pool. She was a beautiful lady and always so accommodating to our pool needs. May she RIP. My sincere condolences to the family.

I worked for Robin at Denbigh Auto Sales for 5 years. We became more than employer and employee....we became family. She had a big heart and I am going to truly miss my friend!!! My heartfelt prayer goes out to the family! I love you, Robin, and you will be sorely missed. May you rest in peace my friend.
