Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   

    We have another sad Memorial Edition of the NNHS Newsletter today.     Skip Weitz, Vice-President of the Student Body and Most Athletic Boy of the Class of 1957, passed away in Conroe, Texas on Thanksgiving Day, January 13, 2012 at the age of 73. 

    His older sister, the late Clara Weitz Wrobel, Class of February 1942, preceded him in death eleven years ago:

NEWPORT NEWS Clara Weitz Wrobel, 76, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001.

Mrs. Wrobel was a lifelong resident of Newport News and a graduate of Newport News High School. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church before her illness and retired as the bookkeeper for Trinity Lutheran School.

She is survived by her brother, Skip Weitz; his wife, Bonnie; and many loving friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Thomas L. Bosserman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran World Hunger Fund, 6812 River Road, Newport News, VA 23607.

Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WALDEN, TEXAS - In loving memory of Herman Edward "Skip" Weitz, 73, longtime resident of Walden, Texas. Skip was born in 1939 in Newport News, Va., and passed away peacefully on Nov. 22, 2012, in Conroe, Texas.

He was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time with his fellow golf buddies and had a keen sense of humor that he carried with him throughout his life. Skip retired from the Marriott Corporation after 30 years of service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who was well loved and will be greatly missed.

Skip was preceded in death by his two children, daughter, Lori Anne Jinks, and son, Shawn Christopher Weitz; and his sister, Clara Wrobel.

He is survived by his loving family, wife, Yvonne Weitz; granddaughter, Michele Garcia; son-in-law, Robin A. Jinks; step-grandchildren, Megan Dutkiewicz and Robin Jinks.
