Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Sad news comes to us once more. Bobby Burroughs, father of Ronnie Burroughs ('60) of VA and Tina Burroughs Farmer ('62) of VA, and himself a member of the Newport News High School family, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in Newport News at the age of 90.

NEWPORT NEWS - Byron V. "Bobby"
Burroughs, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007.
Born on May 13, 1917, he was a lifelong resident of Newport News. In 1979 he retired after 42 years with the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway. He was an avid golfer and member of the James River Country Club, Past President of the Propeller Club, and the Hampton Roads Coal Association.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Claude Burroughs; eight siblings, Geraldine Martin, Lois Gray, Beatrice "Beechie" Norsworthy, Norma Lagatella, his twin brother, John C. Burroughs Jr., Jacqueline "Jackie" Burroughs Tredennick, Paul R. Burroughs, and Douglas L. Burroughs.
He is survived by his
loving wife of 68 years, Ruth Scott Burroughs; son, Ronald B. "Ronnie"
Burroughs and his wife, Joyce; and Bettina Burroughs Farmer and her husband,
Bill, of Newport News. He is also survived by his sister-in laws, Jackie
Burroughs, and Vi Burroughs.
"Bobby," he will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren, Kristi
Burroughs, "Chip" Burroughs, Jaynee Burroughs Kannan, Lauren Andreev McHugh,
Jason Andreev; and his five great-grandchildren, Joshua Parker, Indy and
Bayden Burroughs, Cameron and Sydney Kannan.

We are very sorry to see such a
good man leave us, but happy that Dad now has his best friend and golfing
buddy with him so they can go on doing what they liked to do the most.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Aunt Ruth, Cousin Ronnie and Tina and all of the Burroughs extended family on the loss of a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and special friend and mentor to all of us by the way he lived his life..

Please know how sorry we all are to lose Uncle Bobby! He was such a sweet, kind and gentle man who we loved so much! Abbie will miss her "birthday buddy" but will always keep his memory in our hearts. We pray God will give you comfort during this difficult time and help you to recall the good times you had with Bobby!
