NNHS Newsletter -
“Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful
and calm, - Mark Overby |
![]() |
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
The
Thanksgiving themed Newsletters begin tomorrow, so there's still time for one
more melancholy old blues number.
BONUS #1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vuPuKK31XU - More Than You Know - Johnny Mathis - a definitive arrangement with a pretty slide show!
BONUS #2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITw3rGv_YHQ - More Than You Know - Mel Torme with the Marty Paich Orchestra, 1988 - Hmmm - beautiful version, but he seriously reinterpreted the lyrics, changing the entire meaning, by switching a few pronouns here and there.....
BONUS #3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBPD887Luf8 - More Than You Know - Jane Monheit with Jonathan Kreisberg on guitar and Joe Martin on bass, 2003
PRAYER REQUESTS AND UPDATE:
1. From My Friend, Timpani Treat Puckett of IL - 11/22/09:
If everyone could keep my family
in their prayers this week, I would appreciate it. My brother, Matthew
Treat, was attacked by a man with a knife in the Walgreen's in Edwardsville
parking lot this weekend. His left hand was cut when he tried to grab the
knife to keep from being stabbed, and his right hand is broken from
defending himself. Thank you so much!
YOWZERONI!
What
a frightening story, Timpani! We'll certainly keep you all in our hearts and
prayers!

2.
From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 11/22/09 - "Prayer Request":
Please pray for..... my friend
Laura in a Cairo, Egypt hospital, with high fever and suffering from an
infection, following a snakebite wound. She has already lost some tissue and
may need more removed, as the infection is deep. The surgeons are fighting
for her to keep her leg. Much thanks.
SNAKEBITE - YIKESERONI!!!
We'll pray for Laura, too! Thanks, Shari!

Dear Miss Typhoon,
I think it is that time of year for you to
re-educate your readers on the annual cost for the God Bless, George Helliesen, 61
Well, bless your heart, George,
you are such a thoughtful Sweetie-Pie!
Okay, the high speed internet service is $35.00 per month, and the website service provider is $150.00 per year, due by February 26. So what's that - $670.00 a year? Then there's my
time. Let's see, I bill my time at $100.00 per hour, and I invest an
average of ten hours a day, so that's $1000.00 a day, and ......
Oh, sorry, I couldn't help myself!

From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL -
11/22/09 - "Covert Letter":
Hi, Carol:
Thank you for sharing the Covert Letter with us
through your Newsletter.
My several visits to this city as a young Marine, were while I was on duty as a Marine Orderly for the Commodore of our Amphibious Squadron and the Captain of our amphibious command ship. The impressions gained from the formal receptions at the palace, and the ceremonial parades around the grounds were quickly lost when just a few blocks away one could observe the most abject poverty one can imagine. Corrupt politicians are the likely cause of this malady. More astounding to a visitor was seeing the huge fires in the mountainside where Voodoo was being practiced by the Haitians led by their Witch Doctors. The Witch Doctors use a combination of ingredients to place a person in a coma, that results in no detectable vital signs, and the person is presumed dead, and placed in a coffin in preparation for burial. The next day the Witch Doctor will visit the gravesite, open the casket and administer ammonia to the person in the coma, and when the comatose person is aroused, the Witch Doctor claims power to return one from the dead. No wonder these ignorant Haitians are imprisoned in poverty. So it is such a blessing to hear of efforts to bring the truth and the love of God to these people. Thank you, Harry!!! TYPHOON Regards,
YOWZERONI!
Thank you for that chilling background information, Adonis - and I'll give a
loud "AMEN" to your words about Harry!

11/22/09 - "A patriotic gesture request - Xerox is doing it again this year.":
Easy to do. Pick the card and message. Good idea Xerox! Very talented children doing the artwork.
XEROX
IS DOING SOMETHING COOL If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com, you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services. How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! It is FREE and it only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them. This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you. Please take the time and please take the time to pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough thank you's. Thanks for taking to time to support our military! |
EXCELLENT!
Thank you, Sweetie-Pies!

FINALLY:
From
ArcaMax Jokes - 11/21/09:
The Army
A man was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was
standing at the door as he always is to shake hands.
He grabbed the man by the hand and pulled him aside.
The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!"
The man replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor."
Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?"
He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service."

Lyrics by Billy Rose (06 Sept 1899 – 10 Feb 1966) and Edward Eliscu (02 Apr 1902 – 18 June 1998)
Whether you are
here or yonder
Whether you are false or true
Whether you remain or wander
I am growing fonder of you
Even though your friends forsake you
Even though you don't succeed
Wouldn't I be glad to take you
Give you the break you need
More than you know, more than you know
Girl of my heart, I love you so
Lately I find, you're on my mind
More than you know
Whether you're right, whether you're wrong
Girl of my heart, I'll string along
I need you so
Much more than you'll ever know
Loving you the way that I do
There's nothing I can do about it
Loving may be all you can give
But baby I can't live without it
Oh how I'd cry, oh how I'd cry
If you got tired, and said good-bye
More than I'd show
More than you'd ever know
