Tweety Bird's 67th Birthday

“I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat.”

- Tweety Bird
(b. 21 Nov 1942)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Oh, goody - another celebrity birthday celebration - and this time it's my own precious Tweety Bird's birthday!

I had planned to marry Tweety Bird, you know.  Yes, it's true.  Our love began back in 1949.  We usually met in the Westover Theater on Forest Hill Avenue in Richmond.  We visited often there, and grew quite close and began making plans.  Then one day I became quite ill with what we then called German measles.  I remember it well.  I was lying in my little bed with the periwinkle blue nautical-themed coverlet.        My daddy, the late Robert Buckley (John Marshall HS - '25) brought me home a wonderful plastic Tweety Bird toy.  It looked almost exactly as he appears in the first image above - about 7" tall with one of those terribly annoying squeaky-squawky sounds when squeezed.  I didn't mind, though.  I loved that Tweety Bird so!  Over the years we somehow drifted apart - it was very sad - but you never really forget your first love, do you?

Tweety Bird is 60 years old this week! It happens to all of us...

I guess we are all getting older. Some age better than others.

Cheryl

Ah, mais non, mes amis! My darlin' Tweety Bird is sixty-seven years old today, but such a dreadful thing could never be! He will never age, but remains eternally youthful, a monument to the innocent and carefree days of our childhood!

   But thanks anyway, Sweetie-Pies!

From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of RI - 11/20/09, 12:50 AM - "Hi from Jeanb":

Hi Carol,

I just got home tonight and am catching up.  My mother's service was very nice.  We sang "Glory for Me", "How Great Thou Art" and my brother Al had them play, "Mamma burned the Midnight Oil with Prayer"...several people thought Al was singing but it was not him.

The flowers were gorgeous, Bert's Flower Shop did them (they also did our wedding flowers 41 years ago) and several of my NNHS buddies attended:       Sue Miller Dearnley ('64 - of VA),        Dave Spriggs ('64 - of VA),   Fred Mays ('60 - of VA) and     Linda Lane Lane ('64 - of VA) as well as Betty Sue Lanier Rough ('64 - of VA) and her husband Bob.  It was a beautiful day and we sent  Mom (Elsie Watkins Poole) off nicely.  I will post her eulogy shortly for those who would like to read it.

Love, Jeanb

Thank you, Jean! We'll look forward to reading her eulogy, and again, our deepest sympathies.

Hmmm. Well, we're a little further along in these identifications. See, I TOLDJA that was Steve Hochman! Well, okay, maybe I didn't, but I thought it.....

I think I can spot Steve Veazey and Don Patten, but I'd rather someone else confirm this..... I saw Frank Ivey almost three years ago, but I can't pick him out, either. And I don't even know which one is YOU! Of course, I haven't SEEN you in - what, fifty years? - but HEY!

FOR ALL MY HUNTING BUDDIES

We went hunting over the weekend and killed these two plus three smaller ones.

I can't remember how many shots it took, but it was a lot.

FINALLY:

From ArcaMax Jokes - 11/21/09:

Dinner Party

At a posh Manhattan dinner party, a Latin American visitor was telling the guests about this home country and himself. As he concluded, he said, "And I have a charming and understanding wife but, alas, no children."

As his listeners appeared to be waiting for him to continue, he said, haltingly, "You see, my wife is unbearable."

Puzzled glances prompted him to try to clarify the matter: "What I mean is, my wife is inconceivable."

As his companions seemed amused, he floundered deeper into the intricacies of the English language, explaining triumphantly, "That is, my wife, she is impregnable!"
