   There is still more sad news today.  Anne Bivins Chamblin, Class of June 1947, passed away in Seaford, Delaware on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 89.

I have some sad news to post. My aunt Anne (the youngest sister of my father) passed away at the age of 89 a few weeks ago up in Delaware. As the below obituary indicates Anne Bivins Chamblin was a 1947 graduate of NNHS.

   I'm so sorry to learn this, Alexander. You have my deepest sympathies on the passing of your aunt.

                    Anne Bivins Chamblin

    SEAFORD, DE - Mrs. Anne Bivins Chamblin died peacefully on October 26, 2018 in Seaford, DE. She was 89 years old, born July 1, 1929 in Newport News, Va.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, the Rev. John D. Chamblin, Sr., as well as her parents, Alexander L. and Virginia Bivins (nee Jeffery), and four siblings, Alexander J. Bivins, Mary Jeffery Halferty, Virginia “Spotty” Clayton and Richard Bivins.

She is survived by her children, Virginia Chamblin Grochowski and husband John of Nags Head, NC; John D. Chamblin, Jr. and wife Marcia of Manassas, VA; Anne S. C. Byrne and husband William of Oakland, MD and Randolph M. Chamblin and wife Erika of Arvada, CO, and her grandchildren, Benjamin Byrne, Alexandra Byrne, Virginia Byrne, Alexander Chamblin, Isabel Chamblin, and Sarah Anne Chamblin.

 
 
 
  She was a graduate of the Newport News High School Class of 1947 and attended Fairfax Hall Jr. College in Waynesboro, Va.

She was employed by the Bank of Hampton Roads, Newport News, VA for 3 years, and taught pre-school at Good Shepherd Nursery School, Silver Spring, MD for 13 years. Anne was a loving mother and a devoted wife. She enjoyed playing card and board games, reading, walks on the beach, and marveling at a glorious sunset. She shared these simple pleasures with her family. Some of her great adventures included travel to the Holy Land, Spain and Great Britain.

Mrs. Chamblin was active in Episcopal Church activities all her life, and was a partner in her husband’s ministry in the Diocese of Southern Virginia and the Diocese of Washington D.C. Her deep faith shaped her social beliefs and she was active in many volunteer organizations including The King’s Daughter’s Hospital and Habitat for Humanity.

She will be interred with her husband at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., The Rev. Rob Morella officiating.
