11/16/18 - NNHS Newsletter - It's Not for Me to Say

“Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell
is necessary before you can meet again. And
meeting again, after moments or lifetime,
is certain for those who are friends.

- Richard Bach
(b. 23 June 1936)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Mmmm -  I love this dreamy song; it always makes me want to dance!

HEALTH UPDATES:

From Me ('65) of NC - 11/15/18 - "     My Husband, Paul Harty (Bardolph HS, IL - '61) and Me":

As Paul was already scheduled for another follow-up visit with the fabulous Mr. Sidney Wolinsky, P.A., and I wanted to obtain a referral to an ophthalmologist for cataract surgery, not to mention the increased difficulty in breathing I've been experiencing, I secured an appointment for myself as well.

Mr. Wolinsky was positively giddy when he saw the incredible improvement in Haul Party since he first saw him on 08/14/18 (when it was determined that he had Sjogren's Syndrome and low thyroid) and his meds were adjusted and he's adhered so strictly to his very rigid diet! Paul had no idea just how very close he was to death, but as   Brent said, "On a scale of 1 to 10, he was about a 1.5."

I neglected to report here earlier that when Mr. Wolinsky saw Paul on October 16 and ran more labs, he was found to be hovering between Stage One and Stage Two kidney failure, instead of the previously diagnosed Stage 4!

When it was my turn, they ran labs, ordered a barrage of tests (just because I'd had precious little done in the way of a full check-up since the fall of 2001! ), and gave me a chest X-ray. That revealed that the asthma which I've had my entire life (and y'all thought I was just skipping school! ) has now morphed into full blown COPD, so there's that..... I'll be returning on 11/27/18 for an EKG and more exciting updates.

From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 10/31/18 - "Statistics (#16 in a series of 18)":

These numbers are based on a single day. The one that may not be clear is the 5000 - an estimate of how many steps the average person takes in a day. I don't know if anyone else will find these of interest, or as much as I do, but one thing that stood out to me is the imbalance in the numbers. Our dependence on technology is clear. It is certainly a blessing in many ways; just hope it does not make life more isolating.

   WOW! Thank you, Shari!

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 11/15/18:

One of the youth soccer coaches didn't care much for my refereeing and had no problem letting me know it. Fed up, I politely threatened him with a send-off if he didn't stop.

He calmed down, but an older woman took up where he'd left off. "You'd better control your sideline," I warned the coach.

The coach turned to the woman and barked, "Knock it off, Mom!"

It's Not for Me to Say

Lyrics by Al Stillman (26 June 1906 – 1979); Music by Robert Allen (05 Feb 1927 - 01 Oct 2000)

Recorded by Johnny Mathis (b. 30 Sept 1935), 1957

It's not for me to say you love me
It's not for me to say you'll always care
Oh, but here for the moment I can hold you fast
And press your lips to mine
And dream that love will last

As far as I can see this is heaven
And speaking just for me, it's ours to share
Perhaps the glow of love will grow with every passing day
Or we may never meet again
But then, it's not for me to say

And speaking just for me, it's ours to share
Perhaps the glow of love will grow with every passing day
Or we may never meet again
But then, it's not for me to say
