11/16/10 - NNHS Newsletter - It's Not for Me to Say

“Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell
is necessary before you can meet again. And
meeting again, after moments or lifetime,
is certain for those who are friends.

- Richard Bach
(b. 23 June 1936)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's Newsletter theme is being rerun from exactly three years ago today partly because it's easy, but primarily because I love this song!

http://nnhs65.com/11-16-07-NNHS-Its-Not-for-Me-to-Say.html

Mmmm - this is dreamy - it always makes me want to dance!

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xILhc35GWo - It's Not for Me to Say - Johnny Mathis, @ 1957

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_Not_for_Me_to_Say:

"It's Not for Me to Say" is a 1957 popular song with music by Robert Allen and lyrics by Al Stillman. It was written for the 1957 movie Lizzie (starring Eleanor Parker), and was sung by Johnny Mathis.

A recording by Johnny Mathis, arranged by Ray Conniff was the most successful version of the song, reaching #5 on the Billboard Top 100 singles chart.

NEWBIES:

1.   Debbie Rozzelle DeHart ('70) of NC - 11/15/10, 7:33 PM - "Pictures for the NNHS gallery":

Good evening,

Please excuse me for imposing...I am not the class of 1965 rather I was in the 1970 class. I am however looking for the yearbook from 1966-1967. If you have any idea where I might be able to find one, I would be so appreciative. If you could just point me in a direction.

I have been out of the area for 40+ years and have no contact with any of my previous classmates. I find myself getting more "homesick" as the time goes by. There is no chance I will ever be able to visit but seeing the yearbook would be the next best thing...Anxiously awaiting your reply.

Sincerely:
Deborah DeHart

Hey, Debbie!   It's no imposition at all; I'm just not sure exactly what you want. Are you trying to buy that yearbook, or are you looking for specific images from it - something I might be able to scan for you??

http://www.nnhs65.com/SITE-MAP.html

I still have         David Whitley's ('67 - of VA) '67 Anchor which he graciously loaned me four years ago. I've been trying to scan everything I might conceivably want for the site before I mail it back to him, but I haven't made much progress this last month.....

There are more than 650 people from all NNHS classes on my mailing list. I think we're all homesick; I know I am. If you'd like to join us, I might be able to put you in touch with your old friends.

Just let me know!

Hi Carol,

WOW!!!!

I am in awe that you have replied to my message... and in such a timely manner is amazing.

JA! You caught me at a weak moment; "alls God's chillens knows" I rarely if ever answer personal emails; that's how I started writing those daily Newsletters in the first place!

I would love to have the pictures of the class of 1970 from that yearbook...it would be the 1965-1966 school year...I was in the 8th grade. I can't remember if there was a listing of names in the back of all the students or not. If there was, my name was Deborah Rozzelle. There would have been some in the 1966-1967 yearbook also. I moved before the end of that year, but my fondest memories are still there.

I remember 1 particular picture I was stooped beside the desk of my math teacher...the caption read, "humble yourself before the seat of knowledge". Strange what the mind remembers. (Seems like it was on the left side of the page...maybe not....I had shoulder length blonde hair).

I would love to buy either of the books...but if that is not a possibility, I will gladly pay you for your time and expense for the scanned images....WOW....

I have goose bumps...lol....This is the find of a life time. I am speechless and that doesn't happen often... I have absolutely nothing I can hold or touch from those years...and maybe that now might change...nothing to share with my children....WOW, yet again..

ANXIOUSLY AWAITING YOUR REPLY
THIS HAS MADE MY DAY...WEEK...YEAR...DECADE..

Thank you ever so much again:
Deborah Rozzelle DeHart

I found it! It's on page 24 of the '66 Anchor. The teacher appears to be  Mrs. Marilyn Riddle - and naturally, I never made her teacher page.  So I did:

     http://nnhs65.com/faculty.html

          http://www.nnhs65.com/teachers.html

               http://www.nnhs65.com/teach-Riddle.html - Brand new page!

Debbie Rozzelle ('70)
and Mrs. Riddle
1966 Anchor, p. 24

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS....You are AMAZING, AWESOME, WONDERFUL.

Yes, I had
Miss Kelly, I seem to remember a Mr. Christian for English, a Mrs. Womack for Science???? I had Ms. Cannon for gym (PE).....and I had Mrs. Riddle too. I would NEVER have remembered her name....

I so CANNOT believe I found you...lol...or ran smack dab into you might be a better way to put it. Thank you ever so much for your time AND loss of sleep....Trust me, it is very much appreciated....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Debbie" Rozzelle DeHart

You're very welcome (what are the chances that MOST of your teachers are ones for whom I've never made their pages?!?)!

  Welcome aboard, Debbie!

From Norris Perry (Warwick HS - '59) of VA - 08/05/10 - "Vote for Grace (REPEATED)":

This is my daughter Laura's dog in a contest to be on the cover of a bag of dog food.

Vote every day for Grace. Thanks.

Oh, Laura is your daughter, Norris! Well, that makes it all the more important!

http://www.adogslife.net/photo_gallery.php?pg=&limit=40&sort=tnid&type=tnap&field=dog_name&keyword=grace#14296

   Grace has been named the
September 2010 People's Choice!

BUT - She's falling considerably behind a dog in California named Dollar!

http://www.adogslife.net/photo_gallery_contests.php?t=2

The last time I checked Grace had 4207 votes and Dollar had 6901 votes. We cannot allow this to happen! Doncha wanna go shopping and spot Grace's image on a bag of dog food and know that YOU played a large part in placing her there?!?

It only takes about two seconds to cast your allotted daily vote)!!!

Offend Thy Honor

A defendant in a lawsuit involving large sums of money was saying to his lawyer, "If I lose this case, I'll be ruined."

"It's in the judge's hands now," said the lawyer.

"Would it help if I sent the judge a box of cigars?" asked the defendant.

"Oh no!" said the lawyer. "This judge is a stickler for ethical behavior. A stunt like that would prejudice him against you. He might even find you in contempt of the court. In fact, you shouldn't even smile at the judge."

Within the course of time, the judge rendered a decision in favor of the defendant. As the defendant left the courthouse, he said to his lawyer, "Thanks for the tip about the cigars. It worked."

"I'm sure we would have lost the case if you'd sent them," said the lawyer.

"But I did send them," said the defendant.

"What?? You did?"

"Yes, That's how we won the case."

"I don't understand," said the lawyer.

"It's easy. I sent the cheapest cigars that I could find to the judge, but enclosed the plaintiff's business card."

Guaranteed to Roll Your Eyes

While we were working at a men's clothing store, a customer asked my coworker to help her pick out a tie that would make her husband's blue eyes stand out.

"Ma'am," he explained, "any tie will make blue eyes stand out if you tie it tight enough."

It's Not for Me to Say

Lyrics by Al Stillman (26 June 1906 – 1979); Music by Robert Allen (05 Feb 1927 - 01 Oct 2000)

Recorded by Johnny Mathis (b. 30 Sept 1935), 1957

It's not for me to say you love me
It's not for me to say you'll always care
Oh, but here for the moment I can hold you fast
And press your lips to mine
And dream that love will last

As far as I can see this is heaven
And speaking just for me, it's ours to share
Perhaps the glow of love will grow with every passing day
Or we may never meet again
But then, it's not for me to say

And speaking just for me, it's ours to share
Perhaps the glow of love will grow with every passing day
Or we may never meet again
But then, it's not for me to say
