11/16/06 - NNHS Newsletter - This Is It!

“Go for it now. The future
is promised to no one."

- Wayne Dyer
(b. 10 Mar 1940)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Is this the worst MIDI file you've ever heard, or what?!?   No matter; it's the theme that counts.  And this IS it - the day I finally give you all those images I've been promising for weeks.  Of course, that leaves me no time for the notes, but there's always tomorrow.

   And now, HERE ARE
the Halloween pictures, and pet photos, and more pictures from Evelyn's Birthday Party for All of Us, and David Whitley's drawings from days of yore, and all those great new reunion images.  But first, just a little Old Business:

The Class of 1957 has two of their classmates celebrating today and tomorrow - George Morewitz today, and Ronald Creech tomorrow.  Congratulations and Many Happy Returns, Gentlemen!

From Joe Drewry ('58) of VA to Members of the Class of 1958 - 11/12/06 - "News Alert --
Date and Place Change for NNHS Holiday Dinner":

Dear Classmates,
Due to scheduling conflicts, we have had to change the date and venue of the 2006 NNHS Class of 1958 Holiday Dinner Gathering.
The new date:  Thursday, December 14, 2006.
New Place:  Port Anne Club House, Williamsburg, VA (see link to map below)
Allan and Ginny Willey were able to secure the place and have been in contact with a caterer.  We hope to get back to you in a couple of days with menu selections and pricing.
We will plan to have a time for socializing before dinner.
Please call classmates who you maintain contact with and encourage them to join us.  Not all classmates get these emails.
Port Anne is a residential community off South Henry Street in Downtown Williamsburg.  Classmates Allan Willey and Roger Heflin are Port Anne Homeowners.
The Clubhouse is just on your left as you enter Port Anne on William Way.
Feel free to respond to this email with you questions, comments, and suggestions.

Thanks, Joe!    I've made this change for you both on this and upcoming Newsletters, as well as on the main page:

From Jerry Gammon ('63) of VA - 11/12/06 - "BUCKROE SEAFOOD SHOP":

I am attaching a picture of the Buckroe Bait, Tackle & Seafood Store for 2 reasons: Buckroe seems to be of great interest to many of the newsletter family. Also, as the film needed to do my "art" form is now discontinued by Polaroid, it will be the last of 1595 pictures cataloged over the past 11 years. I am pleased that many of that number are of local places and things of interest to our generation.

That is stunningly dreadful news, Jerry!  I'm so very sorry to hear this!

Thank you for this wonderful image.    I'm so grateful that you so graciously shared so many of these with us.

Y'all go check out Jerry's site, and snap those great pictures up while you can still purchase them:

I think I'm still gonna be sick, but I made the new page anyway:

      - brand new page!

   Thanks again, Jerry!

From My #2 Daughter-in-Law, Bethany Winona Harty (Siuslaw HS, OR - '94) of IL - 10/31/06 - "Halloween":

Here're a few pics from Halloween-ish times.  We had a Pack party on the 25th, and then the big kids had school parties on the 31st.  Eme, Joe, Jim and I went up to the school at 1:15 to help them put on their makeup, then they had a parade around the school block to show off their costumes.  It took 45 minutes to complete the parade.  There're about 700 kids in the school.  That's a lot of costumes.
Eme is a princess in the picture, and Joe is the Yellow knight.  I realized that I didn't have a good one of him, but that's all I got.  Jacob is Frankenstein, and Tom is a vampire.  Jimbo is a dragon.
#20 - Tom the Red Knight (age 7), Joe the Yellow Knight (age 3), unidentified child #22 - Jimmy the Dragon (age 13-1/2 months) #46 - Princess Emeline (age 5) #48 - Jacob the Frankenstein Monster (age 9) #56 - Halloween Parade with Tom the Vampire (age 7)
Wednesday, October 25, 2006 - Joliet, IL Tuesday, October 31, 2006 - Joliet, IL
Well, take care, and I hope that your Halloween is/was as fun as mine!
Bethany :)

Thanks, Bethany!  They're adorable!  That, of course, is my honest, unbiased opinion as their grandmother, you understand!   Give them all hugs and kisses for me!

From Brownie Shaffer Haracivet ('62) of VA - 11/01/06:

Happy Halloween!
Just thought you would enjoy the attached picture of me with my 24 pound cat, Kathy Elizabeth. It's good to be back in VA!!

TYPHOONS Forever!!!

Well, once I can get over the concept of the everlastingly gloriously beautiful Brownie as a witch, I love the shot!   (Must be a good witch...)

   Thanks, Brownie!

One Day at a Time

This is it. This is it.
This is life, the one you get
So go and have a ball.

This is it. This is it
Straight ahead and rest assured
You can't be sure at all.

So while you're here enjoy the view
Keep on doing what you do
So hold on tight we'll muddle through
One day at a time, One day at a time.

So up on your feet. Up on your feet
Somewhere there's music playing.
Don't you worry none
We'll just take it like it comes.

One day at a time, one day at a time.
One day at a time, one day at a time.
One day at a time, one day at a time.
One day at a time, one day at a time.
