I am saddened to learn of William's passing. We were Hardee's buddies for a number of years - even before Ruth died. He was a special man - gentle, long-suffering and patient in problems. I listened to his fish stories, his high school track stories, his armed service and fisticuff stories. I was pleased to research his favorite vintage rifle and generate a presentation document for him. His most treasured words to me were, "John, I wish that we had met before now." I will remember him and miss him. My sympathy to his family and other friends!

I had the pleasure of working with Willie at the Daily Press. He was a kind and thoughtful man. I had the opportunity to speak with him after his retirement -- he enjoyed spending time with his sons and fishing. I will miss a dear friend.
