“A grandmother pretends she doesn't know who you are on Halloween.”
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
We always celebrate Halloween together here - even if we all might not celebrate Halloween individually. Unfortunately, almost all of the graphics on all these pages have been broken since last fall, and I don't have time to fix them before I go on my totally unexpected week-long trip, soooo......

From Joyce Lawrence Cahoon ('65) of VA - 10/29/09 - "OHH NOOO!!!":
There are witches in my mailbox.
What am I to do?
I found them there this morning,
doing things they shouldn't do!!
How the witches got there,
I haven't got a clue.
But they won't be there much longer
because I'm sending them to
You've been Witch Kissed!
Before the warts begin to spread,
pass the kisses on instead!
SQUAWK!!! Thanks, Joyce!
From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 10/29/09 - "Halloween babies":
Hope I didn't send this before.
No, you didn't! Thanks, Shari, they're adorable!
From Bill Lee (Warwick HS - '54) of NC - 10/30/09 - "Henry Jordan":
Thank you for
recent entry about
"HW" - a high school nickname. Members of the Class of '54 at WHS wish they
could claim him, but he graduated with the class of '53.
One of the numerous honors bestowed on him is a scholarship that was started in 1985 and continues today. Those of us who knew him believe this would have meant as much - or more - to him as any of his other well-deserved recognitions.
A good synopsis can be found at http://warwick.nn.k12.va.us/henryjordan/index.html
along with additional links that includes dedication of Henry Jordan Field at WHS in 2000.
A large display case in The Virginiana Room at the main library on Main Street in Hilton Village is filled with artifacts and photos of Henry.
Thanks so much for that correction and follow-up, Bill!
From Buster Vest ('63) of VA - 10/30/09 - "The Oak Ridge Boys/GI Joe and Lillie":
The Oak Ridge Boys/GI Joe and Lillie
A friend of mine forwarded this link to me. If you haven't seen it before you might feel the way I did, a country song about two people falling in love after WW2...but the ending caught me by surprise. I think it will surprise you also.
Thanks, Buster! We've run this before, but it's so very, very cool, we'll run it again!
From Carol Anne Comer Cutler ('70) of VA - 10/30/09 - "10/29/09 Newsletter - re: Hank Maloney":
I forwarded the message from Shirley Eanes Matthews ('66 - of VA) to Linda Bell, who graduated with the NNHS Class of 1970.
NNHS '70 Carol
Well, bless your sweet heart! Thank you so much, Carol!
From the Head Flagtwirler of 1965, Janice McCain Rose of VA - 10/30/09 - "Making Strides/American Cancer Society":
Dear NNHS classmates....thanks to all who contributed to
the American Cancer Society through my son Blake's fundraising page. As
of this afternoon, his contributions totaled $1305.00....and we know that
another $100.00 is coming in this weekend.
I am excited that I will be making the walk tomorrow in Washington DC with Blake and the rest of his team. We are all wearing something pink.
I am walking in memory of all my friends, many NNHS classmates, who have died from breast cancer...and I am hoping that a cure is within reach. Please join me in thought tomorrow as I proudly walk in memory of those we have lost.
Janice McCain Rose
SUPER NEWS! Those of us who cannot be there with you in person will be with you in spirit! Thanks, Janice!
From Mickey Marcella ('54) of VA - 10/30/09 - "Mickey 1983":
I was hosted for breakfast by the Hampton Crabbers at the Woodlands Golf Course and Country Club on Wednesday, October 14th on my 75th birthday. Here I am in 1983. Some say I look like Robert De Niro.
WOWZERONI - how wonderful! Thank you for letting us know that, Mickey - and congratulations! Unfortunately your attachment arrived in some format with which I was totally unfamiliar, so if I still can't figure it out when I get back home, I will bug you once more! And yes, I'll go along with that De Niro comparison - only you are much more handsome, of course!

Jokes - 10/30/09:
The customer in the Italian restaurant was so pleased that he asked to speak to the chef. The owner proudly led him into the kitchen and introduced him to the chef.
"Your veal parmigiana was superb," the customer said. "I just spent a month in Italy, and yours is better than any I ever had over there."
"Naturally," the chef said. "Over there, they use domestic cheese. Ours is imported."
A wealthy investor walked into a bank and said to the bank manager, "I would like to speak with Mr. Reginald Jones, who I understand is a tried and trusted employee of yours."
The banker said, "Yes he certainly was trusted. And he will be tried as soon as we catch him."
