10/22/04 - NNHS Newsletter - THIS IS IT!!!

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

TODAY IS THE DAY of the Glorious Super-Duper Spectacular-Spectacular Reunion!!!

I am SO EXCITED now, I think I've already POPPED!!!  Looky-looky one last time at all the people coming:

SUNDAY OCTOBER 24th  BRUNCH (NO HOST) After partying into the early morning, c'mon down around 10:00
for the Omni Champagne Sunday Brunch.  Share reunion stories, exchange addresses, and say your goodbyes
to your Classmates before departing for home.  Just let us know on the Reservation Form that you plan to join us
so that the Omni Staff can seat us all together.

Happy Birthday today to Craig Miller ('63) of FL and Al Farber ('64), also of FL!

FRIDAY NIGHT, OCTOBER 22nd:  We are planning an informal party (casual attire) on Friday night, October 22nd, from 7 PM
to midnight. All NNHS Alumni are invited to attend. There will be a cash bar and light hors d-oeuvres. We didn't want a loud band or DJ getting
in the way of re-acquaintances and conversation, so we chose to set up our own sound system with oldies CDs, and there will be a dance floor,
because no one can stand still once those Golden Oldies begin.  As a Special Treat, Fred Mays NNHS '60 will be there with a display of his
unbelievable NNHS memorabilia collection. Be sure to bring your own memorabilia for display.

SATURDAY NIGHT, OCTOBER 23rd:  Saturday night, October 23rd, 7 PM - midnight will be a more dressy affair. (Suggested:
coat and tie for gentlemen;  dresses or pants suits for ladies but above all be comfortable and have fun).
All NNHS Alumni are
invited to attend
.  There will be a cash bar and a dinner buffet. We will begin with a program of memories and remembrances (and perhaps a few
surprises). Coach Warren Mitchell has accepted our invitation to attend and will honor us with his recollections about our State Championship
Basketball Team.  Also attending are Maestro James P. Wilson, Jr., and our Class Co-Sponsors, Mr. Warren Reed and Miss Ettalea Kanter.
Other Special Guests have been invited. Then, we will dance the night away to 50s and 60s Golden Oldies played by DJ. As a Special Treat,
Fred Mays NNHS '60 will be hosting a display of his unbelievable NNHS memorabilia collection. Be sure to bring your own memorabilia
for display.  At some point in the evening we will attempt to corral all you Class of 1964 revelers for a group photograph and a "photo op"
for your personal photographs.

I've had great fun today bantering with some of the gals from '65 about what we were wearing Saturday night (I'll spare y'all
the details, primarily because they would shoot me...).

PRE-REUNION RENDEZVOUS:  Friday, October 22, 2004 - Meet in Omni Lobby at 4:00 PM, and go to their own restaurant, Mitty's:

From Pam Smith Arnold ('65) of VA:

Dave (Arnold - '65 of VA) has continued to say to me: ya' know - there is a very good restaurant in the Omni....  Now Sherry (Mitchum Baker - '65 of VA) has said the same thing.  I am all for easy - so let's just stay at the Omni.  That way - no one gets lost (I ALWAYS get lost) or left. So, Carol, THAT is the PLAN. Meet in the lobby
at 4:00 - we will proceed to the Omni restaurant, leave word at the desk as to where we are...and we can't
possibly be late for the 7:00 goings-on. How 'bout that!
Pam

From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA, Chairman of 1964's Reunion Committee:

Hmmmmm .............. more tasty tidbits at the reunion for those of us who have not eaten already.

Here is the menu, just so you know what you will be passing up:

Chesapeake Crab Dip
Fresh Fruit Display with Chocolate Fondue
Imported Cheese Display
Spanokopita
Chicken Tenders
Mini Crab Cakes
Mushrooms Stuffed with Sausage
Scallops Wrapped in Bacon
Vegetable Egg Rolls
Coconut Fried Shrimp

Thanks, Pam and Dave!  Now, I may be WAAAAY off base here (as though THAT ever happens!!!), but it's my impression that
this 4:30 "dinner" is primarily just a good excuse to sit around and yak.  Some of those coming will not be able to join us later that
evening, but could stop by and join us for a while at the earlier time.  I really didn't think unless someone was absolutely ravenous
that they'd be buying a big dinner.

Personally, I probably am going to be so excited that I won't be able to eat much at either location, but that's because I inherited
my father's nervous stomach (Thanks, Daddy!).

Oh, speaking of my father - may I beg one last favor, please?  Will the first one to spot this weekend's edition of the Virginia Gazette
please pick up a couple of extra copies for my sister and me?  Frank Shatz is supposed to be writing a column in there about my daddy
and D-Day.  Thanks so much!

Y'all take care of each other.  I hope to see many of you very, VERY, VERY soon!

                                   Love to all, Carol

A Kiss to Build a Dream On

Words and Music by Bert Kalmar, Harry Ruby and Oscar Hammerstein II, 1951

Gimme a kiss to build a dream on
And my imagination
Will thrive upon that kiss
Sweetheart, I ask no more than this
A Kiss to build a dream on

Give me a kiss before you leave me
and my imagination
will feed my hungry heart
Leave me one thing before we part
A kiss to build a dream on

When I'm alone with my fancies
I'll be with you
Weaving romances
Making believe they're true

Oh, gimme your lips for just a moment
and my imagination
will make that moment live
Give me what you alone can give
A kiss to build a dream on

Gimme a kiss to build a dream on
And my imagination
Will thrive upon that kiss
Sweetheart, I ask no more than this
A Kiss to build a dream on

Give me a kiss before you leave me
and my imagination
will feed my hungry heart
Leave me one thing before we part
A kiss to build a dream on

When I'm alone with my fancies
I'll be with you
Weaving romances
Making believe they're true

Oh, gimme your lips for just a moment
and my imagination
will make that moment live
Give me what you alone can give
A kiss to build a dream on
