10/17/04 - NNHS Newsletter - SPECIAL - All Track and Field! |
|
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
This is not exactly the Big Event that I had planned, but as the song says, "There's always tomorrow for dreams to come true!"
NEWBIE:
1. Allen Foster ('58) of VA - 10/16/04:
Add an old '58 model.
Giggles!
Somehow I do not believe that you are an old model, Allen - just a hunch!
Welcome aboard! We're delighted to have you.
I've added
your name here:

I trust you've seen your gorgeous Basketball images already:

I'm happy to announce the
partial release of the (trumpet fanfare,
please!) long-awaited
TRACK AND FIELD
PAGES. It's
unlike
me to release something to you before I have it in as near-perfect a form as I
can muster, but I'm doing it this time for a
couple
of reasons. First, I promised to have something up and ready prior to the
Spectacular-Spectacular Reunion, and
second, I
thought it might
be fun to build them together with all of you.
I've already had
a great deal of help in making them - from Albert Dorner ('66) of VA with
the nudge and the expertise, from
John Todd ('64) of AK, Joe Madagan ('57) of FL, Joe Wingo ('65) of NC for
more expertise, and Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA
for help in choosing and finding appropriate music. Raoul Weinstein
('57) of FL also suggested some great music, and it was
one of those extremely rare instances when Dave was unable to locate it.
That, I must tell you, just does not happen very often.
These gentlemen
were enormously patient with me as I tried to catch a vision of how I wanted to
present the pages. I annoyed
them repeatedly with inane questions due to my extreme ignorance of the subject,
and they were consistently kind and gracious.
Thank you so much, fellas - I deeply appreciate it!
By the way, lest
you think my ignorance arose from lack of interest and attention and support of
the teams, in my own defense
I must tell y'all that this was not the case. I attended a great many, if
not all, of the home meets, and probably a few of those
away as well. I simply paid more attention to - uh, well - to watching the
guys and being mesmerized by them than by learning
pertinent facts and data. I'm sure that was a big surprise, right?!?
Giggles!!!
So here they are - in an unfinished and imperfect form - the ALL-TRACK AND FIELD links:
This page is not only the index, but contains (I think) the complete dialogues which transpired over the last several weeks.
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK.html
This is the page which started it all:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-History.html
These pages are merely skeletons of what is to come, and shall remain that way just a bit longer - sorry:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-55.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-56.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-57.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-58.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-59.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-65.html
But these pages are largely as complete as I can make them at the moment, and await only your memories and input:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-60.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-61.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-62.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-63.html
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/TRACK-64.html
In the coming weeks I hope to be able to develop these into pages worthy of the great athletes portrayed therein.
Thanks again to all of you! You're simply the best!
Y'all take care of each other.
Love to all, Carol
