AMBER ALERT:

From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 10/15/14, 2:13 AM - "Amber Alert":

http://blogs.seattletimes.com/today/2014/10/amber-alert-issued-for-missing-vancouver-wash-9-year-old/

A friend just passed this on. Although it's a far cry from most of us maybe some have friends close to the area.

OH, NO! Thanks so much, Shari!

From Me ('65) of NC - 10/15/14 - "Bad Time for Computers; Good Time for Wildlife":

   1. As many of y'all noticed, someone thought it would be funny to hack into my Facebook account. I myself was not so amused. I postponed joining Facebook for YEARS, and had barely been on there seven weeks when this nonsense befell. Had I REALLY asked you to befriend me (again!) you would have seen my picture. I understand that you did not. My dear daughter         Adrienne (Harty - Hillsboro HS, IL / American School, IL - of NC) helped me reset my passwords, so all should be secure now. My apologies to all for whom this may have caused a problem - and thanks, Adrienne!

   2. The spacebar on my husband          Paul's (Harty - Bardolph HS, IL - '61 - of NC) computer inexplicably just stopped working. In the immortal words of that great cartoon dog, Muttley, "Sanafrazzin-Ratzafrazzin!"

   3. Around noon today, Paul spotted a grey fox right in our back yard. So cute!

From Sarah Puckett Kressaty ('65) of VA - 10/14/14 - "Rembrandt painting 1642 - Night Watch":

Rembrandt painting 1642 - Night Watch

This is well worth a view ... also ... at the end ... look for the box, left, one down I think, that gives the behind the scenes story of how this was made.

The Rijksmuseum museum in Holland had an idea: Let's bring the art to the people and then, hopefully, they will come to see more - at the museum. They took one Rembrandt painting from 1642, Night Watch, and brought to life the characters in it, placed them in a busy mall and the rest you can see for yourself!

BEFORE YOU CLICK on the link below.....take a good look at the painting to the left. Then click to enjoy the video.

http://prepperchimp.com/2014/10/10/how-to-clean-a-rusty-cast-iron-skillet/ - "Those of you who own antique iron skillets know the amount of problems rust can give you. The surest and quickest way to handle this sort of issues is turning to a specialist. But this will also cost you the most! There is a cheaper and effective way to get rid of rust from cast iron skillets, from the comfort of your own home. This way, you are the one who completely controls the process of cleaning, and can ensure only natural materials are used. So, grab the following items in order to begin making a homemade natural solution to rust on cast iron skillets."

From John London (Warwick HS - '57) of VA - 09/18/14 - "So God Made a Dog (#20 in a series of 23)":

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 10/14/14:

A cannibal son and his father were out looking for food by watching people walk down the street.

The son suggested a particularly plump woman, and the father rejected her saying that she was too fatty.

Later on the son asked about a very skinny woman. Again the father refused, saying that she was too skinny.

After a while the son pointed out a very attractive woman.

”Sure, son," the father replied, drooling. “We’ll take her home and eat your mother!"

Blinded by the Light

Written and recorded by Bruce Springsteen, 1973
(b. 23 Sept 1949)

Recorded by
Manfred Mann's Earth Band, 1976
(b. 21 Oct 1940

Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Madman drummers bummers,
Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin,
the calliope crashed to the ground
The calliope crashed to the ground
But she was...
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Some silicone sister with a manager mister told me I go what it takes
She said "I'll turn you on sonny to something strong,
play the song with the funky break"
And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather chart to see if it was safe outside
And little Early-Pearly came by in his curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride
Asked me if I needed a ride
But she was...
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
She got down but she never got tired
She's gonna make it through the night
She's gonna make it through the night
But mama, that's where the fun is
But mama, that's where the fun is
Mama always told me not to look into the eye's of the sun
But mama, that's where the fun is
Some brimstone baritone anticyclone rolling stone preacher from the east
Says, "Dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in it's funny bone,
that's where they expect it least"
And some new-mown chaperone was standin' in the corner,
watching the young girls dance
And some fresh-sown moonstone was messin' with his frozen zone, reminding him of romance
The calliope crashed to the ground
But she was...
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Madman drummers bummers, Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin,
the calliope crashed to the ground
Now Scott with a slingshot finally found a tender spot and throws his lover in the sand
And some bloodshot forget-me-not said daddy's within earshot save the buckshot, turn up the band
Some silicone sister with a manager mister told me I go what it takes
She said "I'll turn you on sonny to something strong"
