Marjorie Woodruff Carter
Newport News High School Class of 1950
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
There is still more sad news today. Marjorie Woodruff Carter, Class of 1950, sister of the late Shirley Woodruff Warren (June '44) (d. 25 Nov 1994), passed away at home in Yorktown on Friday, October 09, 2015 at the age of 83.

YORKTOWN, VIRGINIA - Marjorie Woodruff Carter, 83, of Yorktown died October 9, 2015 in her home.
She was born and raised in Newport News and graduated from Newport News High School in 1950.
She had been a secretary for the U.S. Government at Ft. Eustis and then First Baptist Church, Newport News, for a number of years.
Mrs. Carter was a member of Yorkminster Presbyterian Church, Grafton, where she taught the Childrens Sunday School for over 20 years.
She belonged to the Women Circles and the Golden Saints Club. She was also a member of the Yorktown Woman's Club. S
he was preceded in death by her husband, George Harry Carter, Jr., her parents, Marie and Roscoe P. Woodruff and her sister, Shirley Woodruff Warren.
She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters; Sharon McElrath and her husband Lyle of Newport News VA, Melissa Nortz and her husband Jim of Fairport, NY, Cynthia Lorish and her husband Mark of Alburtis, PA; 8 grandchildren; a sister in law, Anne Cole of South Hill, VA; 2 nieces, Candice Usher of Matthews, NC, Roxanne Fox of Atlanta, GA and a host of great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3:15pm on Monday, October 12, 2015 in Peninsula Memorial Park.
