REPEATED - WITH EMPHASIS:

From John ('59) and     Aretie Gallins ('59) Patterson of TN - 10/04/12, 7:25 PM - "RE:   Richard Oliver":

Carol,

We were hoping to find Richard and communicate with him before going to Costa Rica in hopes of getting the real skinny on the places where and where not to go down there.....

Good to hear from you - - say "Hi" to everybody for us - - and let us know if you find Richard's e-mail address.

Best Regards,

John

   Hi again, John and Aretie!

I personally have no experience in locating people abroad, but we do have some experts in that field among us. And surely someone has remained in touch with Richard all these years. Perhaps one of y'all has experience in travelling to Costa Rica.

So now there are three ways to help - and this is important!

  "Anyone? Anyone?"

From My #2 Son, Brent Harty (Hillsboro HS, IL - '90) of TX - 10/07/12 - "George Washington":

It's time to put up my next post on great American Heroes of the Past. I weighed this next decision for quite some time (as my intent in this blog is to alternate between family Heroes and well-known American heroes). I recently watched a good biography on the man known as the 'Father of our Nation'. Well, that is a pretty impressive accolade, and therefore bears a weightier consideration. So, George Washington it is...

http://heroesofamericaspast.blogspot.com/2012/10/george-washington.html

WOWZERONI! Thank you so much, Brent!   I'm especially fond of The Father of Our Country as he is my first cousin, seven times removed (his mother being the half-sister of my ancestor).

From My #6 Son, Dale Harty, (Hillsboro HS, IL / American School, IL - '02) of MA - 10/07/12 - "Party Harty # 3 -- One Eyed Charlie":

FINALLY:
From www.ajokeaday.com - 10/07/12:

Two brothers were always getting into trouble in their neighborhood. The people in the neighborhood started complaining to the parents about the boys. So the boys parents decided to have their priest talk to the boys. The priest asked to speak to the boys alone, requesting to see the youngest first.

The young boy came in and sat at a large table across the room from the priest. The priest looked at the boy, pointed at him and, trying to emphasize that God is in everyone, asked, "Where is God?"

The boy looked around the room and back at the priest and said nothing.

Again, the priest pointed at the boy and in a louder voice asked, "Where is God?"

The boy said nothing. The priest walked around the table, pointing inches from the boy’s face and asked again, "Where is God?"

The boy jumped out of his chair and ran out of the door. The boy ran right home, grabbed his older brother and said to him, "We are in BIG trouble!"

His brother said, "We haven't done anything!"

The younger brother replied, "God's missing, and they think we did it!"

Columbia, Gem of the Ocean

The version that was written in 1843 (Thomas á Becket, David T. Shaw; © 1999 AmeriMusic, Inc.)
was extremely popular during the Lincoln years, and was usually included among the
patriotic songs played by the Marine Band for the President's ceremonial gatherings.
But the song was apparently a rewrite of a very well known British tune entitled
"Red, White, and Blue" that was composed and written by Thomas
á Becket in 1750.

O, Columbia! the gem of the ocean,
The home of the brave and the free,
The shrine if each patriot's devotion,
A world offers homage to thee.
Thy mandates make heroes assemble
When Liberty's form stands in view;
Thy banners make tyranny tremble

When borne by the Red, White and Blue!
When borne by the Red, White and Blue!
When borne by the Red, White and Blue!
Thy banners make tyranny tremble
When borne by the Red, White and Blue!

The wine cup, the wine cup bring hither,
And fill you it true to the brim!
May the wreaths they have won never wither,
Nor the star of their glory grow dim!
May the service united ne'er sever,
But they to their colors prove true!

The Army and Navy forever,
Three cheers for the red, white and blue,
Three cheers for the red, white and blue,
Three cheers for the red, white and blue,
The Army and Navy forever,
Three cheers for the red, white and blue.

Well, "Columbia" in this case is the USA, but the tune is familiar and the key name is there, so ........
