“I have…learned that one cannot demand love and respect or require that the bonds of friendship and appreciation be extended as an unearned right. These blessings must be earned. They come from personal merit. Sincere concern for others, selfless service, and worthy example qualify one for such respect.”

From Joan Lauterbach Krause ('60) of VA - 09/29/17:

   Thank you, Joan!

From Jimmy Dick ('65) of FL - 09/29/20:

Happy Tuesday, everyone, and with the dawn comes the need to get ready to once again hit the climb toward midweek and then back down to Margaritaville Friday. But be blessed and smile for God has given us another glorious day and let's best use it to advance His Way in whatever we do and wherever we go. If so, we will be truly blessed and we can shed our troubles to He who gladly receives them to ease our way along the trail of life. And remember, it could be worse. What if it was the beautiful Matterhorn? Even Snoopy laughs at the thought of any of us being crazy enough to attempt that. So, have a blessed morning and now onward to the week's summit.

      Thank you, Jimmy!

I was visiting a friend who could not find her cordless phone.

After several minutes of searching, her young daughter spoke up.

Stay as sweet as you are,
Don't let a thing
Ever change you.
Stay as sweet as you are,
Don't let a soul
Rearrange you.

Don't ever lose
All the charm you possess,
Your loveliness, darling,
The way you say "yes".

Stay as sweet as you are
Discreet as you are,
You're divine, dear.
Stay as grand as you are,
And as you are,
Tell me that you're mine, dear.

Young and gay or old and gray,
Near to me or afar,
Night and day I pray
That you'll always stay
As sweet as you are.

Young and gay or old and gray,
Near to me or afar,
Night and day I pray
That you'll always stay
As sweet as you are.
