From My Friend, Susan, of NC - 09/23/15:

“If it were possible to make your road very easy, you wouldn’t grow in strength. If you were always forgiven for every mistake without effort on your part, you would never receive the blessings of repentance. If everything were done for you, you wouldn’t learn how to work, or gain self-confidence, or acquire the power to change.”

- Richard G. Scott
(07 Nov 1928 -
22 Sept 2015)

   Thanks so much, Susan!

From the Head Cheerleader of 1965, Pam Smith Arnold of CA - 09/23/15, 2:31 PM - "RE: Martha Smith Olney (Ferguson HS - '65)":

Hi Love,
That is fine - I'd love to hear from
Bobby (Hatten - NNHS / Ferguson HS - '65 - of VA). He was my very first boyfriend!

I am not coming to the reunion as I will be in Chicago with my second grandchild! I know you have a bunch of grandchildren and I am green :>).

Love you,
Cuz' Pam

EXCELLENT! Thank you, Cousin Pam! I'm not making it to the reunion either, but your reason for not being there is far more thrilling and fun than mine! Congratulations on that new grandbaby!

From Bobby Hatten (NNHS / Ferguson HS - '65) of VA - 09/23/15, 5:03 PM - "RE: Martha Smith Olney (Ferguson HS - '65)":

Thank you, Carol – the sweetness of your reply tells me you are still that same girl I had a crush on in the fifth grade !

I’m envious of the 18 grandchildren but I hope they don’t come to visit at the same time !

I have a picture at home in an old album of Martha and that pony tail that I took on my brownie camera – I will try to find it and send it – how can you forget all of us boys fighting over who would buy that girl’s ice cream - thanks for taking your time to reply, I will look forward to hearing from Pam and learning Martha’s whereabouts.

Best wishes

Bobby

GASP! YOU WHAT?!? How is it I never knew about that crush? Thanks so much, Bobby - you made my day!

We've never attempted to have all 18 grandchildren assembled at once, but I'm sure it would be total bedlam! For Christmas of 2013 we did have two sons, one daughter, two daughters-in-law, and five of the 18 grandchildren together, and it was quite, um, exciting!

From The Walking Dead - 09/23/15 - "Eighteen More Days":

Eighteen days until Season 6… not that we’re counting.

The Walking Dead will return on October 11 at 9:00/8:00 on AMC!

  Be there.

There are only a few things that are more entertaining than watching a cat trying to run across a freshly waxed wood floor after a ball.”

- David C. Holley

From My Husband, Paul Harty (Bardolph HS, IL - '61) of NC - 09/06/15 - "Surprising Facts You May Have Never Heard (#14 in a series of 21)":

No matter how old you are, or where you are from, people simply can’t know everything.

However, if you have an inquisitive mind, you probably love learning new things.

If this is the case, then these 21 facts will give your mind a good workout. (Plus, you can impress others with this exotic knowledge.)

   WOWZERS! Thanks, Dools!

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 09/23/14:

The following 15 Police Comments were taken from actual police car videos around the country. Count down to #1...

#15 - "Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll stretch after you wear them a while."

#14 - "If you take your hands off the car, I'll make your birth certificate a worthless document."

#13 - "If you run, you'll only go to jail tired."

#12 - "Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? Because that's the speed of the bullet that'll be chasing you."

#11 - "You don't know how fast you were going? I guess that means I can write anything I want to on the ticket, huh?"

#10 - "Yes, sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I don't think it will help. Oh, did I mention that I'm the shift supervisor?"

#9 - "Warning! You want a warning? O. K., I'm warning you not to do that again or I'll give you another ticket."

#8 - "The answer to this last question will determine whether you are drunk or not. Was Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog?"

#7 - "Fair? You want me to be fair? Listen, fair is a place where you go to ride on rides, eat cotton candy and corn dogs, and step in monkey poo. "

#6 - "Yeah, we have a quota. Two more tickets and my wife gets a toaster oven."

#5 - "In God we trust, all others we run through NCIC."

#4 - "How big were those 'Just two beers' you say you had?"

#3 - "No sir, we don't have quotas anymore. We used to, but now we're allowed to write as many tickets as we can."

#2 - "I'm glad to hear that chief (of Police) Hawker is a personal friend of yours. So you know someone who can post your bail."

The envelope please.....................

AND THE WINNER IS ...

#1 "You didn't think we give pretty women tickets? You're right, we don't. Sign here."

Gotta Be This or That

Words and Music by Sunny Skylar (11 Oct 1913 – 02 Feb 2009)

Recorded by
Benny Goodman (30 May 1909 – 13 June 1986), 1945

If you ain't wrong, you're right
If it ain't day, it's night
If you ain't sure, you might
Gotta be this or that

If it ain't dry, it's wet
If you ain''t got, you get
If it ain't gross, it's net
Gotta be this or that

If it ain't sis, you can't miss
It's got to be your brother
Can't you see it's gotta be
One way or the other

If it ain't full, it's blank
If you don't spend, you bank
If it ain't Bing, it's Frank
Gotta be this or that
