From Carol Anne Comer Cutler ('70) of VA - 09/17/06 - "NNHS Class of 1970":

Hi Carol,

I have always hated my senior picture in my cap & gown.  I have also noticed former Typhoons are sending a baby picture & a more recent picture also.  Attached please find a replacement picture for the one you are using now, plus my adorable baby picture.  The old lady is just the body I am living in, not really who I am.

Hugs, Carol Anne Comer Cutler

I love that last thought! Thanks, Carol Anne!

  From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 09/17/07 - "*** A WARNING ***":

..... Please make a mental note that deer are out like crazy right now, especially on I-64. My trip down to Hopewell was so much easier, than my trip back. I'm guesstimating that I saw 40 living deer and 5 that had been hit. It's nerve racking when they are so close to the highway. Some of you may remember two school teachers were killed when they hit a deer in Vienna, VA (I'm pretty sure) .. anyway, a very populated city up that way and why it made the news, some years ago.....

Have a happy & safe week,

Repairing Wood Cracks or Scratches

Get wax sticks from hardware stores. They are available in many color finishes.
Apply the stick to the crack until the wax is even with the surface. Then heat
a putty knife just in hot water. Press the flat side to the area to smooth out the surface.

   Thanks, Shari!

From Karrin Williams Frankie (Warwick HS - '61) of VA - 09/19/07 - "Classmates you would like to KILL! ":

Cute joke from Susan Seabolt Carter (WHS '61).  Have a wonderful day and please stay healthy!

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING, "SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD? WELL... YOU'LL LOVE THIS TALE FROM A WOMAN!

I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME................ SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK-HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME WHO HAD BEEN IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS NEARLY 40 YEARS AGO.

COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN?

UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT. THIS BALDING, GRAY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE.

AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK HIGH SCHOOL "YES. YES, I DID. I'M A MUSTANG," HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE.

"WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?" I ASKED.

HE ANSWERED, "IN 1968. WHY DO YOU ASK?"

"YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!" I EXCLAIMED.

HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY. THEN, THAT UGLY, OLD, WRINKLED, BALD, FAT, GREY, DECREPIT SON-OF-A-_____ ASKED, "WHAT DID YOU TEACH?"

Thanks, Karrin!

From one of my Famous Marines,  Herb Hice of MI, who served in the Pacific Theater during WWII - 09/19/07:

From Karrin Williams Frankie (Warwick HS - '61) of VA - 09/19/07 - "Port Warwick tonite":

Don't think the weather is going to hurt us   We are still planning on planting the PINK SIGN at Port Warwick tonight.

Hope to see ya there
.

   Thanks, Karrin! Y'all have fun!

From Sepi Dinwiddie Prichard ('56) of NC - 09/19/07, 3:56 PM - "Going to D.C.":

Carol....

Reuben and I are leaving in minutes to go to McLean, Va.  Reuben's Mother is trying so hard to step over the thresh hold that will bring her healing.  Prayers are needed for traveling mercies, and a calm spirit for us.  She is at the door and reaching for the hand of our Saviour to help her make the step.  We expect her to be gone when we get there.  And I can't ask her to wait for our arrival. She is suffering for each breath.  Thank you, Jesus.

Love, Sepi

Oh, dear Sepi, I'm so very sorry! Our love and prayers go with you and Reuben!

The Pirate Song

- Lesley Nelson-Burns

My boat's by the tower, and my bark's on the bay,
and both must be gone at the dawn of the day.
The moon's in her shroud, and to light thee afar
On the deck of the daring's a lovelighted star.
So wake, lady wake, I am waiting for thee,
Oh, this night or never my bride thou shalt be,
So wake, lady wake, I am waiting for thee,
Oh, this night or never my bride thou shalt be,

So forgive me my rough mood unaccustomed to sue;
I woo not, perhaps, as your landlubbers do.
My voice is attuned to the sound of the gun
That startles the deep when the combat's begun.
So wake, lady wake, I am waiting for thee,
Oh, this night or never my bride thou shalt be,
So wake, lady wake, I am waiting for thee,
Oh, this night or never my bride thou shalt be,

The Frenchman and Don will flee from our path,
and the Englishmen cower below at our wrath,
And our sails shall be gilt in the gold of the day,
And the sea robins sing as we roll on our way.
So wake, lady wake, I am waiting for thee,
Oh, this night or never my bride thou shalt be,
So wake, lady wake, I am waiting for thee,
Oh, this night or never my bride thou shalt be,

A hundred shall serve - the best of the brave,
And the chief of a thousand shall kneel as thy slave,
And thou shalt reign queen, and thy empire shall last
Till the black flag by inches, is torn from the mast.
So wake, lady wake, I am waiting for thee,
Oh, this night or never my bride thou shalt be,
So wake, lady wake, I am waiting for thee,
Oh, this night or never my bride thou shalt be,
