I'm Beginning to See the Light

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled
by a spark from another person. Each of us
has cause to think with deep gratitude
of those who have lighted the flame within us.

- Albert Schweitzer
(14 Jan 1875 - 04 Sept 1965)

One can never tell what will be the result of faithful service rendered, nor do we know when it will come back to us or to those with whom we are associated. The reward may not come at the time, but in dividends later. I believe we will never lose anything in life by giving service, by making sacrifices, and doing the right thing.”

I'm Beginning To See the Light

Words and music by Duke Ellington (29 Apr 1899 - 24 May 1974), Don George (1909–1987),
Johnny Hodges (25 July 1906 – 11 May 1970), and
Harry James
(15 Mar 1916 - 05 July 1983), 1944/5

I never cared much for moonlit skies
I never wink back at fireflies
But now that the stars are in your eyes
I'm beginning to see the light

I never went in for afterglow
Or candlelight on the mistletoe
But now when you turn the lamp down low
I'm beginning to see the light

Used to ramble through the park
Shadowboxing in the dark
Then you came and caused a spark
That's a four-alarm fire now

I never made love by lantern-shine
I never saw rainbows in my wine
But now that your lips are burning mine
I'm beginning to see the light
