From Joyce Lawrence Cahoon
('65) of VA - 09/14/08 - "Loved this....":
Loved this.
This is wonderful!
A Birth Certificate shows that we were born.
A Death Certificate shows that we died.
Pictures show that we lived!
Have a seat . . . Relax . . . And read this slowly.
I Believe...
That just because two people argue, doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue, doesn't mean they do love each other.
I
Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.
I Believe...
That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a
while
and you must forgive them for that.
I Believe...
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.
I
Believe...
That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I Believe...
That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I
Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.
I
Believe...
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.
I Believe...
That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I
Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I
Believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done,
regardless of the consequences.
I
Believe...
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I Believe...
That my best friend and I can do anything, or nothing, and have the best time.
I
Believe...
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you When you're down, will be the
ones
to help you get back up.
I
Believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I Believe...
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had, and
what you've learned from them.....and less to do with how many birthdays you've
celebrated.
I Believe...
That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes,
you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I
Believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your
grief.
I Believe...
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.
I
Believe...
That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life
Forever.
I Believe...
Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.
I
Believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know
you.
I
Believe...
That even when you think you have no more to give, if
a friend cries out to you........you will find the strength to help.
I
Believe...
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I Believe...
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.
I
Believe...
That you should send this to all of the people that you believe in. I just did.
The happiest
of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything.
Thank you God for all the wonderful people who help us throughout the journey of life..
May Angels guard you and guide you.
Thanks, Joyce!
What has food got to do with youth? Why are we talking about diets? Because
you're what you eat. Because beauty and youth are the natural reflection of
health and well-being, and health is so much related to what we eat. Look. No
matter how good we can control our temper, attitude and mindset, we definitely
need to eat correctly to stay healthy. No doubt or argument on that.
For most of us, eating is one of the most satisfying things we do in our
everyday lives. It is a major source of pleasure. Instead eating has often
become one of our favorite hobbies. So, we'll definitely need to learn how to
eat right to stay healthy and young.
Below are some everyday foods to avoid that can cause damage to our health when
taken in excess. I’ll be using the word healthy instead of young in most
instances.
1.Dairy Products
Taking in too much of them may lead to heart problems. Dairy products are mucous
forming and difficult to digest. If they are eaten, a better choice would be to
accompany them with salad. Watch your consumption.
2.Processed Food
Taking too much processed and preserved food is detrimental to our health.
Firstly, they contain hidden sugar, extra salt, flavor enhancer, food
conditioner and other additives that contribute to health problems. Secondly,
harmful preservatives are added to make the food “fresh” longer. Thirdly, it has
no nutritional value even they were good food prior to canning as processing has
taken most of the nutrients out of nutrient-rich foods!
3. Genetically Modified Food (GMO)
Genetic engineering is a radical new technology that breaks down fundamental
genetic barriers not only between species, but also between humans, animals and
plants in an unnatural way. One good reason to be concerned is that these
laboratory-created foods do not have good safety track record for human
consumption. However, they are allowed to be sold unlabelled in the conventional
supermarket, there is no way to tell specifically which potatoes, soy, corn or
tomatoes, etc have actually been genetically modified. The only way to avoid
these GMO foods is to eat and buy organic food if possible. If you plan to grow
and produce your own food, buy only organic seeds!
4. Refined Food
White flour, white rice and white sugar are all refined foods. They are made by
stripping the grains and canes of all natural nutrients available: fiber,
vitamins and minerals to give them a pretty clean and white color. They become
depleted, processed “dead” food that often contributes to constipation and other
digestive and health problems. Because they are stripped off virtually all
nutrients, most refined foods are required to be enriched and fortified with
synthetic vitamins and minerals. But bear in mind that our body cannot process
chemical nutrients.
5. Hydrogenated/ Partially-Hydrogenated
Hydrogenation is the process of artificially converting naturally liquid oil
(vegetable oil) into solid form at room temperature as in margarine, nut
butters, biscuits, cookies and powder beverages, etc. Harmful trans-fatty acids
are created from this hydrogenation process, and they cause blood clot, heart
problem, cancer and other degenerative disease. Read the labels and avoid
anything hydrogenated. And don’t be fooled by the label reading
“partially-hydrogenated oil”, partially-hydrogenated oil is worst than totally
hydrogenated oil!
6. Microwaved Food
According to a research paper published by Dr. Hans Ulrich Hertel and a Lausanne
University professor, food cooked in microwave ovens could pose a greater risk
to health than food cooked by conventional means. A microwave oven decays and
changes the molecular structure of the food by the process of radiation.
Microwave cooking creates cancer causing agents and causes significant decrease
in food nutritive value.
7. Meat
Eating meat in itself is unhealthy. The study of human digestive system has
shown that that it is not designed for eating meat from the beginning. Certain
meats, such as beef, take some 72 hours to digest completely. Therefore, if you
eat meat at every meal, you would still be digesting the food you had for
breakfast the other day while you are again consuming another round of it.
A vegetarian diet is good as it eliminates the problem of indigestion due to
improper food-combining that often leads to fermentation and decaying of food in
the stomach. More importantly, the nutrients needed to rejuvenate and replenish
our cells are destroyed in the decaying and fermenting process, often in the
case of meat-eater. This is one of the reasons why so many people nowadays
actually look older than they are, as this dietary cycle will eventually leads
to premature aging and illness.
If you want to stay young and live a healthy life, minimize your intake of the
above food - dairy products, processed, refined, microwaved and GM food,
hydrogenated oil and meat. Substitute meat with healthier alternatives like
tofu. Make vegetables your daily affair. Let meat be the garnishing, and not the
main course! Give preference to fresh ripe fruits, vegetable, nuts and seeds for
health and youth!

From My Friend, Kay, of MI - 09/13/08 - "The Obedient Wife":
There was a man who had worked all his life, had saved all of his money and was a real miser when it came to his money. Just before he died, he said to his wife....'When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to the after life with me.'
And so he got his wife to
promise him, with all of her heart, that when he died, she would put all of the
money into the casket with him.
Well, he died.
He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting there - dressed in
black, and her friend was sitting next to her. When they finished the ceremony,
and just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said,
'Wait just a moment!'
She had a small metal box with her; she came over with the box and put it in the
casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket and rolled it away.
So her friend said, 'Girl, I know you were not foolish enough to put all that
money in there with your husband.'
The loyal wife replied, 'Listen, I'm a Christian; I cannot go back on my word. I
promised him that I was going to put that money into the casket with him.'
"You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him!?!?!?'
'I sure did,' said the wife. 'I got it all together, put it into my account, and
wrote him a check.... If he can cash it, then he can spend it.'
Thanks, Kay!

Lyrics by Jack Norworth
Music by Nora Bayes and Jack Norworth, 1908
The night was mighty dark so you
could hardly see
For the moon refused to shine.
Couple sittin' underneath the willow tree, For love they pined.
Little maid was kinda 'fraid of darkness
So she said, "I guess I'll go."
Boy began to sigh, looked up at the sky.
Told the moon his little tale of woe.
Shine on, shine on harvest moon up in the sky.
I ain't had no lovin' since January, February, June or July.
Snowtime ain't no time to stay outdoors and spoon.
So shine on, shine on harvest moon, for me and my gal.
I can't see why a boy should cry when by his side
Is the girl he loves so true.
All he has to say is "won't you be my bride, For I love you."
But why should I be telling you this secret,
When I know, that you can guess.
Harvest moon will smile, shine on all the while,
If the little girl should answer yes!
Shine on, shine on harvest moon up in the sky.
I ain't had no lovin' since January, February, June or July.
Snowtime ain't no time to stay outdoors and spoon.
So shine on, shine on harvest moon, for me and my gal.
