September Morn

“By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

- Helen Hunt Jackson, September
(18 Oct 1830 - 12 Aug 1885)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

This theme will serve to introduce us to the concept of September, even if we're not willing to concede that summer is over.

So inspiring! There was someone recently close to this age, but this is amazing, especially given the fact she left school at age 12.

         Fortune Teller

After escaping from her overly controlling husband for the evening, Jennifer sneaked off to visit a fortune teller of some local repute. In a dark and hazy room, peering into a crystal ball, the mystic delivered grave news.

"There's no easy way to say this, so I'll just be blunt: Prepare yourself to be a widow. Your husband will die a violent and horrible death this year." Then the soothsayer looked up and locked eyes with Jennifer, who was visibly shaken at the news.

Jennifer stared back at the woman's lined face, then at the single flickering candle, then down at her hands. She took a few deep breaths to compose herself. She simply had to know. She looked back, deep into the fortune teller's gaze, steadied her voice, and asked her question:

"Will I be acquitted?"

From David Whitley ('67) of VA - 09/06/07 - "familee":

These are pics we took (on Sunday and) during our (Washington LDS) Temple trip Monday (Labor Day). Some are of Charlotte (my 1st grandchick), some are of her & big brother Parker, and a couple are of her & her aunt Drew (my 3rd daughter, whom is of 23 years now, unmarried & delivers pizzas for Papa J's).

Cameron (Charlotte's mommy) on the left, and Drew,
Cam's sister & Charlotte's aunt, my daughters both.

Could there be any more beautiful girls on the
planet, except for my other two daughters?
Nah, didn't think so.

September Morn

- Written by Neil Diamond and Gilbert Becaud

Stay for just a while
Stay, and let me look at you
Its been so long, I hardly knew you
Standing in the door
Stay with me a while
I only want to talk to you
We've traveled halfway round the world
To find ourselves again

September morn
We danced until the night became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way

Look at what you've done
Why, you've become a grown-up girl
I still can hear you cryin'
In the corner of your room
And look how far we've come
So far from where we used to be
But not so far that we've forgotten
How it was before

September morn
Do you remember how we danced that night away
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way
