Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   There is more sad if quite belated news today.
Fran Marshall Mayes, Class of 1961, sister of Russell Marshall of VA, passed away in Newport News just days before Christmas, 2017.

  From Sandi Bateman Chestnut ('65) of VA - 09/06/18 - " Fran Marshall Mayes":

... My cousin from Hampton HS was friends with a Fran Marshall from NNHS... I talked to her and found out that Fran (married name was Mayes) passed away last December. Evidently, she lived in Fort Worth, TX for several years.

   Thank you so much, Sandi.

Fran was a very special woman of God. She always had others on her heart. No matter what she had, she was always willing to give to someone in need. What a wonderful expression of the Father's love she demonstrated in her everyday life. Fran was a wonderful member of EMIC for so many years. Love and peace to all the family!

Fran had a loving heart to all. Friendly smile all the time. No matter what she was facing in life, she set it aside to pray and encourage others. She shared, cried and loved as the FATHER would. Fran made sure you would not feel alone by introducing folk to one another. I met Fran @ EMIC. Thank you Lord for sharing her with us. Rejoicing for no more painful times.

We loved Fran! We were neighbors on Riptide Court for a couple years and then we lost touch when we moved away. I am so saddened to hear about this. I was truly hoping to re-connect. I'll just have to wait until I get to heaven now! She was such an angel on earth!! She truly was the hands and feet of Jesus.

I am so glad that God placed Fran in our lives. We had the joy of being hers, David's, and Selena's neighbors from 2005-2007. Our lives were made better because she was a part of it.

He Leadeth Me

Words by Joseph Henry Gilmore, 1862
(29 Apr 1834 - 23 July 1918)

Music by William Batchelder Bradbury, 1864
(06 Oct 1816 - 07 Jan 1868)

He leadeth me: O blessed thought!
O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate'er I do, where'er I be,
still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,
by his own hand he leadeth me;
his faithful follower I would be,
for by his hand he leadeth me.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom,
by waters still, o'er troubled sea,
still 'tis his hand that leadeth me.

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,
by his own hand he leadeth me;
his faithful follower I would be,
for by his hand he leadeth me.

Lord, I would place my hand in thine,
nor ever murmur nor repine;
content, whatever lot I see,
since 'tis my God that leadeth me.

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,
by his own hand he leadeth me;
his faithful follower I would be,
for by his hand he leadeth me.

And when my task on earth is done,
when by thy grace the victory's won,
e'en death's cold wave I will not flee,
since God through Jordan leadeth me.

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,
by his own hand he leadeth me;
his faithful follower I would be,
for by his hand he leadeth me.
