Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   We have more sad if somewhat belated news this Saturday.
    Raymond Shockley, Class of February 1947, brother of Waverly Shockley, Jerry Shockley, and Barbara Shockley Clawson, passed away in Rockwall, Texas on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the age of 85.

               John Raymond Shockley

 

 

NEWPORT NEWS - John Raymond Shockley, Jr., age 85, of Rockwall, TX, passed away August 23, 2014. He was born July 14, 1929, in Newport News, VA, to John and Bonnie (Wainwright) Shockley.

He graduated from NNHS in 1947 and attended RPI.

Raymond served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong Presbyterian, an avid reader, and a supporter of a number of non-profit organizations.

Raymond is survived by a son, Steven and his wife Katie; a daughter, Laura Anne Smith and her husband Mike; a granddaughter, Sabrina Inman; brothers Waverly R. Shockley and Jerry F. Shockley, and his wife Bobbie, and a sister, Barbara Ann Clawson and her husband Robert.
