Have a look here. The Alums might get a kick out of this trivia test:

Oh, what FUN!!! Thanks, David!
There are 80 questions. Dave, being the Super Genius that he is, probably
Aced it. I only correctly answered 43.
(But I got # 31 right - YES!) And that, my little
chickadees, is why David is in charge of the music on this site!

From Cathy Slusser Hudson ('64) of VA - 09/03/05 - "Hit # 37, 500":
Hi Carol:
Hope all is well with you. The Hit 37,500 might well be
Pete Tench
('65 - of VA)
but it also could be
Bobby Frank
('61)
who used to announce the games at school. Bobby is also a former Judge for the
City
of Newport News and now works for the State Court System. His
brother,
Joe Frank
('60),
is the Mayor
of Newport News. Both are Lawyers and Graduates of
N N H S.
Catherine Hudson
AHA!!! You could be right! Thanks, Cathy!
From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 09/03/05
I just found a way to
watch the Navy football game against Maryland by streaming video. WOW!!!!
http://www.cstv.com
Of course, you need broad band ...
GO NAVY!!!!!
WOWZERONI!!! That's OUTSTANDING!!!
Congratulations on your wondrous find, Captain!
And it was a great game, too,
had it not been for that heartbreaking ending.......
But it had super
commercials,
and gave great plugs for the
United States Naval Academy, and there were really cool post-game clips
of past
Navy football seasons, including 1960 with
Joe Bellino and 1963
with Roger Staubach - who (of course) appear
on our Famous Sailors page (along with
a few other familiar faces.....).
And the best news is that
next Saturday evening, September 10, at 1800, we can "tune in" to watch Navy
clobber
Stanford!!!
Thank you for sharing this exciting site, David!
From Angie Ray Smith ('64) of VA - 09/03/05 - "Scroll down to find my pictures!!!":
I am SO excited... two pictures I took in Colorado in July... won in an photo contest.... scroll down... to find them... http://www.vaildaily.com/section/SPECIALA15 It was FUN!
WOWZERS!!!! That
is so COOL!!! CONGRATULATIONS, Angie -
WAY TO GO!!!
Unfortunately, I seem
to have gone the wrong way, and didn't snag the images in time, and can't seem
to talk
that e-newspaper into delivering them back to me. ARGHHHH! If
some National Smart Person can manage
to do either or both of the above, I'd appreciate your sharing them with me....
From Me ('65) of NC - 09/03/05:
While I was cleaning out my files, I came across this recipe from 07/04/05:
COCA
COLA SALAD
20 oz. Coke
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 pkg. orange Jello
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Sprinkle Jello into softened cheese.
Add boiling Coke. Stir in nuts and
lemon juice.
The first one of
you who has "da noive" to try it, be sure to let me know how it tastes! I
sent it to my # 5 son,
Nathaniel in IL (who is
incidentally celebrating his 26th birthday today - Happy Birthday, Faniel!),
and he
thought it sounded disgusting.
From Candy ____ Whitley (Ferguson HS - '68??) of VA - 09/04/05:
http://gprime.net/flash.php/llamasong
Thanks, Candy! Your husband, David
('67) , also known as The Funniest Man I've Ever Known, sent me this
once before. Fortunately, I have insurance which covered the injuries I
sustained laughing.... It is totally hysterical!
In fact,
must be quite hysterical at this very moment. I can't seem to remember
your maiden name, nor your year
of graduation, and I'm only 97.3% sure you went to Ferguson. Sigh.
As Napoleon Dynamite
would say, "I'm such
an idiot! GOSH!"
What are
the chances your maiden name was Padgett? No, that can't be right.
That's the street around the corner..
It'll come to me. Not in time to keep me from making a fool out of myself,
of course, but it'll come to me..........
From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 09/03/05 - "Howard Fisher ('59)" (in response to Joe Drewry - '58 - of VA):
The Class of 1959 would have had their 40-year
reunion in 1999, and their 45th in 2004. Their
reunion committees may have located him. All we have to do is find a member of
their
committee and go from there. Ask Eleanor (Buckley Nowitzky - '59
- of NC) if she was ever
contacted by the Committee. It is a start. Does she have any classmate rosters
from past reunions?
Put out an APB to all of your Class of 1959 subscribers. Ask about committee
members and class
rosters.
BTW, no listing in the
SSDI, so I assume he survives.
But, you can only imagine the phone listings for "H. Fisher" and "Howard Fisher"
across the USA.
D
DUHH!!! SHOULDA CHECKED THERE FIRST!!!
HOWARD IS LISTED ON CLASSMATES.COM.
I HAVE SENT AN E-MAIL THRU CLASSMATES
ASKING HIM TO CONTACT JOE DREWRY
Thank you, David - you are just that good!
By the way, the Class of 1959 has not held any reunions in recent years.
That's just one more good
reason why they are more than welcome to come to the Open Reunion sponsored
by the Class of 1965! (Y'all are planning to attend, arentcha??)

BACKLOGS:
From Richard Dawes ('62???) of VA - 08/06/05:
Dear Carol
I was looking through your web page and saw your pics of the Cheerleaders
pic for 1960.
You have one of them listed as Sandra Wanderer, her name should be listed
as Sharron
Wanderer.
That is, Sharron with two R's
Thanks so much for your great web page.
Richard Dawes
From Sharron Wanderer Dawes ('61) of VA - 09/03/05:
Dear Carol
I have viewed your site and enjoyed it. Brings back a lot of old memories.
Typhoons forever!
Thank you for posting my picture on the Cheerleader site for 1960. However, you
have my
name listed as Sandra Wanderer. This is incorrect.
My name was SHARRON Wanderer.
It seems really weird to see your face and the wrong name.
In the Varsity Cheerleaders center photo, year 1960, page 62 - I am second from
left in the
back row between Judi (Hawley) and Rochelle (Leifer).
Anticipating the correct version.
Sharron Wanderer Dawes
Providence Forge, VA 23140
YOWZERS!!!
As I said in my note, I have no idea how I could
have made such an egregious
mistake,
nor how it persisted for so long. There must be a reasonable explanation,
but nothing really comes
to mind. I am so very sorry! I can only imagine how upsetting that
must have been! Thank you for bringing it
to my attention!
I've corrected it now, but it's been incorrectly posted for 17 months or so:
http://nnhs65.00freehost.com/cheerleaders.html
http://nnhs65.00freehost.com/cheerleaders-60.html
I really can't understand why no one corrected me before!
On the other
hand, just Saturday I myself was astonished when I looked back to check a new
page I only
created on 08/30/05. It was completely laden with outrageous errors,
ranging from typos to misspellings
to misidentifications to "moving" Gene Collins Glave ('60) from SC
to VA! If I didn't know better, I'd think it
had been created by my evil twin!
AND NO ONE HAD SAID A WORD!!!! They probably all thought I was quite deranged....
http://nnhs65.00freehost.com/reunion-page.html
http://nnhs65.00freehost.com/Reunion-PIX-2005-60.html
http://nnhs65.00freehost.com/R-2005-60-genes-pix.html
I corrected some of the worst errors, but a few still remain. Somebody HELP!!! - PLEASE!!!
From Brenda Amos Williams ('62) of VA - 08/28/05:
Just wanted you to see my baby,
since all my children are grown. She is quite a ham and not
spoiled much. My granddaughter is 13 so I have no babies anymore.
Just keep waiting. I still
have a single daughter and a now-single mom, so I just wait. :-)

OHHH,
Brenda! She's so precious, she scarcely looks real! I'll take
your word for it that she is - how adorable!!!
Thanks so much! What happy pictures!
And I can't imagine what I
must have been thinking, not posting her pictures on the News link the other
day! I added
her now:

Y'all have a great holiday - and take care of each other! TYPHOONS FOREVER!
Love to all, Carol

Coming to America
Written by Neil Diamond
Far
We’ve been traveling far
Without a home
But not without a star
Free
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream
On the boats and on the planes
They’re coming to America
Never looking back again
They’re coming to America
Home, don’t it seem so far away
Oh, we’re traveling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm
Home, to a new and a shiny place
Make our bed, and we’ll say grace
Freedom’s light burning warm
Freedom’s light burning warm
Everywhere around the world
They’re coming to America
Every time that flag’s unfurled
They’re coming to America
Got a dream to take them there
They’re coming to America
Got a dream they’ve come to share
They’re coming to America
They’re coming to America
They’re coming to America
They’re coming to America
They’re coming to America
Today, today, today, today, today
My country ’tis of thee
(today)
Sweet land of liberty
(today)
Of thee I sing
(today)
Of thee I sing
(today)
