09/04/12 - NNHS Newsletter - It's Four in the Morning

“I've got all the money I'll ever need, if I die by four o'clock.”

Henny Youngman
(16 Mar 1906 - 24 Feb 1998)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's Newsletter theme is sadly suggestive of my new sleeping patterns.  I rather like the old (a.k.a. "normal") way better.....

BONUS - - It's Four in the Morning - Faron Young

"It's Four in the Morning" (also known as "Four in the Morning") is a song made famous by the country music singer, Faron Young. Originally released in 1971, the song became his first No. 1 hit single on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart since 1961's "Hello Walls."[1] The song was written by Jerry Chesnut.[1]

The song was the title track to his 1971 album and became one of his best-known hits. It was also a major smash in the UK, somewhat rare for a country song, peaking at No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart in July 1972.[1]

Its pop-crossover impact at home was far more minor, barely scraping the bottom of the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 92. It sold over 500,000 copies in the UK, and 750,000 in North America by early 1973, earning Young a gold disc awarded by the RIAA.[1]

"It's Four in the Morning" has also sealed a place in country music history. A live performance video clip of Young singing the song was the first music video to air on CMT when the cable television channel first launched on March 5, 1983 as CMTV.

All one has to do is click the link we were to save months ago--the NL one! Then you can send out an email--absent NLs--and like this one saying "new stuff available" in NLs!?? No Google--just clicks.

Thanks, Wayne Honey! As              my mama, the late Maxine Frix Buckley (John Marshall HS - '25) (19 May 1908 - 15 Feb 1999) used to say (facetiously, of course), "That's what I've been telling 'em down at the pool hall!"

If I could but talk everyone into bookmarking that link - - my life would be greatly simplified.  Sigh.

From Angie Ray Smith ('64) of VA - 09/03/12, 10:02 PM:

Thank you, Carol! I hope all is well:)
YOU take care!

Thanks, Angie! All is well here - unless you count berserk-o sleeping patterns!

From My #2 Son, Brent Harty (Hillsboro HS, IL - '90) of TX - 09/03/12 - "Harty Labor Day Trip to Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains":

Hey all...

Here are a bunch of pics of our trip from this weekend.  Carlsbad, NM is about 175 miles away from El Paso.  That is a typical travel distance from here!  lol

But we went down in the caves (and hiked about 3.5 miles if you didn't take the elevator - Bethany brought Jimmy up the elevator, otherwise I would have had to somehow carry 109 lbs. up a mile out of the caves!) AND had a picnic at the base of the highest peak in Texas today (we were at 5700 feet, but  El Capitan sits over 8,000 feet).  Actually this part where we had dinner also sits on the Butterfield Trail (the pics of it were from yesterday on our way out).

Also, we saw Ice Age 2500 (or something like that...maybe it was only Ice Age 3 lol) at a drive in in Carlsbad last night.  The only bummer of the trip was the hotel we stayed in.  It was cheap compared to the rest of the rooms available.  But it was probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.  Other than that, the trip was super!

.....with love...
  El Capitan in the Guadalupe
Mountains 25 miles away
in the distance...straight ahead. We
had lunch at this picnic area today.
      Eme, Joe, and Tom
These 3 kiddies hiked out of the bottom
with me. We didn't want to wait in an
hour long line! They all did great!
Brent, Joe, and Tom

WOWZERONI! What a beautiful country we have! Thanks, Brent! Glad y'all had fun!

BONUS RECIPES: - Creamy Chicken 'n' Dumplings - "Chicken 'n' Dumplings in under 30 minutes? With our secret, time-saving method, this recipe is almost too good to be true!" - Skillet Corned Beef and Cabbage - "Don’t bother with the slow cooker or the pressure cooker! All you need for this corned beef and cabbage recipe is a skillet. In about 20 minutes, you’ll be ready to dig in!"

    From Wayne Stokes ('65) of VA - 02/29/12 - "Aww pictures......... (#33 in a Series of 43)":

  I can do this!!

   AWWW! Thanks, Wayne Honey!

From - 08/27/12:

A father and son went deep-sea fishing. Out at sea, the father saw his son drilling a hole in the boat.

When asked what he was doing, the son replied, "There's water coming into the boat, so I made a another hole for it to escape."

It's Four in the Morning

Words and Music by Jerry Chesnut, 1971
(b. 07 May 1931)

 Recorded by Faron Young (25 Dec 1932 – 10 Dec 1996), 1971

It's four in the mornin' and once more the dawnin'
Just woke up the wanting in me
Wishin' I'd never met her, knowing if I'd forget her
How much better off she would be

The longer I hold on and the longer this goes on
The harder that it's gonna be
But it's four in the mornin' and once more the dawnin'
Just woke up the wanting in me-ee

I never deserved her, God knows when I hurt her
That's the last thing that I want to do
She tries but she can't tell how she feels
But I know too well what she's goin' through

If I love her so much, I don't know why I can't do
The right thing and just let her be
But it's four in the mornin' and once more the dawnin'
Just woke up the wanting in me-ee

Last night I told her this time it's all over
Makin' ten times I told her goodbye
Last night we broke up, this mornin' I woke up
And for the tenth time I'm changin' my mind

I saw more love in her eyes when I left her
Than most foolish men will ever see
And it's four in the mornin' and once more the dawnin'
Just woke up the wa-anting in me-ee

It's four in the mornin' and once more the dawnin'
Just woke up the wanting in me
Wishin' I'd never met her [fade]
