Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's Newsletter theme is one of those songs that gets into my head and just stays there - so I thought I'd share it with y'all!

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJLIiF15wjQ - Wannabe - Spice Girls, 1996

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wannabe_%28song%29:

"Wannabe" is a song by British pop group Spice Girls. Written by the group members, Matt Rowe and Richard Stannard during the group's first professional songwriting session, and produced by Rowe and Stannard for the group's debut album Spice, released in November 1996. The song was written and recorded very quickly, the result was considered lacklustre by their label, so it was sent to be mixed by Dave Way, but the group was not pleased with the final result, and it was mixed again, this time by Mark "Spike" Stent.

"Wannabe" is an uptempo pop song that incorporates a mix of hip-hop, rap and dance music. The lyrics, which address the value of female friendship over the heterosexual bond, became an iconic symbolism of female empowerment and the most emblematic song of the group's Girl Power philosophy.[1] Despite receiving mixed reviews from music critics, the song won Best British-Written Single at the 1997 Ivor Novello Awards and Best Single at the 1997 BRIT Awards.....

"Wannabe" is a dance-pop song with influences of hip-hop and rap.[1] Written in the key of B major, it is set in the time signature of common time and moves at a moderate tempo of 116 beats per minute.[17] It uses the sequence B–D–E–A–A♯ as its chord progression during the refrain, the chorus and the bridge, and F♯–G♯m–E–B for the verses.[17] The song is constructed in a verse-pre-chorus-chorus form, with a rapped bridge before the third and final chorus.[17] Musically, it is "energised" by a highly syncopated synthesised riff, and by the way the repetitive lyrics and rhythm are highlighted during the bridge.[18] "Wannabe" presents a different version of the traditional pop love song performed by females, mainly because of the energetic, self-assertive style that expresses a confident independence that is not reliant on the male figure for its continuance.[19]

The song opens with a laugh,[20] followed by undislodgeable piano notes.[21] Over the notes, the first lines of the refrain are sung with a spoken–almost shouted vocals, in a call and response interaction between Brown and Halliwell.[19][20] The words "tell", "really" and " I wanna" are repeated,[18] so that the voices' tone and the lyrics build up an image of female self-assertion...[19

The reunion is just weeks away, October 16 and 17.

There have been a number of NNHS graduates from other cl asses who have expressed an interest in attending our reunion both Friday and Saturday evenings.

As there is a limit on Saturday night as to how many people we can accommodate, we want to make sure that we can include all the 1965 classmates first. So,1965 classmates, if you know that you are attending but have not sent in your RSVP, please do so as soon as possible.

The committee is now in a position that we do not want to lose money, but we also want to make sure that our classmates, who want to attend, will be present to celebrate this milestone together. Looking forward to making new memories.

SUPER! Thank you, Pauline! I wish I were able to join you!

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 08/26/15:

At about 3:30 A.M., a wife awoke to find she was alone in the bed, and she could hear her husband crying uncontrollably. She got up and began to look for him. He wasn't in the bathroom, living room, or in the kitchen. As she passed the laundry room, she heard his faint sniffles coming from the basement. She turned on the light and went downstairs to find him. Finally, she found him huddled in the corner, rolled up into a ball, and crying hysterically. She ran over to him and asked why he was crying.

He said, "Do you remember when we got married twenty years ago?"

She looked at him and said, "Yes."

He said, "Well, a couple of months before, your dad said that I could marry you or go to jail."

She said, "I already know that. I don't see what the problem is."

He replied, "Don't you see!!! I would have gotten out today!"

Wannabe

Written by Matt Rowe and
Richard Stannard

Recorded by Spice Girls, 1996

Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
really really wanna zigazig ha.

If you want my future forget my past,
If you wanna get with me better make it fast,
Now don't go wasting my precious time,
Get your act together we could be just fine

I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
really really wanna zigazig ha.

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends,
Make it last forever friendship never ends,
If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give,
Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is.

What do you think about that now you know how I feel,
Say you can handle my love are you for real,
I won't be hasty, I'll give you a try
If you really bug me then I'll say goodbye.

Yo I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
really really wanna zigazig ha.

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends,
Make it last forever friendship never ends,
If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give,
Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is.

So here's a story from A to Z, you wanna get with me
you gotta listen carefully,
We got Em in the place who likes it in your face,
we got G like MC who likes it on an
Easy V doesn't come for free, she's a real lady,
and as for me..ah you'll see,
Slam your body down and wind it all around
Slam your body down and wind it all around.

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends,
Make it last forever friendship never ends,
If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give,
Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is.

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta, you gotta, you
gotta,
you gotta, you gotta, slam, slam, slam, slam
Slam your body down and wind it all around.
Slam your body down and wind it all around.
Slam your body down and wind it all around.
Slam your body down zigazig ah
If you wanna be my lover.
