From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wannabe_%28song%29:

"Wannabe" is a song by British pop group Spice Girls. Written by the group members, Matt Rowe and Richard Stannard during the group's first professional songwriting session, and produced by Rowe and Stannard for the group's debut album Spice, released in November 1996. The song was written and recorded very quickly, the result was considered lacklustre by their label, so it was sent to be mixed by Dave Way, but the group was not pleased with the final result, and it was mixed again, this time by Mark "Spike" Stent.

"Wannabe" is an uptempo pop song that incorporates a mix of hip-hop, rap and dance music. The lyrics, which address the value of female friendship over the heterosexual bond, became an iconic symbolism of female empowerment and the most emblematic song of the group's Girl Power philosophy.[1] Despite receiving mixed reviews from music critics, the song won Best British-Written Single at the 1997 Ivor Novello Awards and Best Single at the 1997 BRIT Awards.....

"Wannabe" is a dance-pop song with influences of hip-hop and rap.[1] Written in the key of B major, it is set in the time signature of common time and moves at a moderate tempo of 116 beats per minute.[17] It uses the sequence B–D–E–A–A♯ as its chord progression during the refrain, the chorus and the bridge, and F♯–G♯m–E–B for the verses.[17] The song is constructed in a verse-pre-chorus-chorus form, with a rapped bridge before the third and final chorus.[17] Musically, it is "energised" by a highly syncopated synthesised riff, and by the way the repetitive lyrics and rhythm are highlighted during the bridge.[18] "Wannabe" presents a different version of the traditional pop love song performed by females, mainly because of the energetic, self-assertive style that expresses a confident independence that is not reliant on the male figure for its continuance.[19]

The song opens with a laugh,[20] followed by undislodgeable piano notes.[21] Over the notes, the first lines of the refrain are sung with a spoken–almost shouted vocals, in a call and response interaction between Brown and Halliwell.[19][20] The words "tell", "really" and " I wanna" are repeated,[18] so that the voices' tone and the lyrics build up an image of female self-assertion...[19

OOPS! NADA!!

From Anonymous of VA - 08/25/12:

Carol -

So glad to have you back on line.  Your kindness in keeping Typhoon Nation up-to-date is greatly appreciated.

As witnessed by the number of obituaries, our ranks are slowly thinning, but our school spirit and love for each other remains strong.

Again, sincere thanks for what you are doing...

Thank you so much, Sweetie-Pies - for everything!

From Bill Hobbs ('66) of Northern VA - 08/26/12, and 5:16 PM, 7:34 PM - "Where are you?":

We have lost each other. I haven't received a newsletter in months, the last thing I remember is you were having problems with your system. Is it possible you could add me on to the mailing list?

I miss you and know you've been going thru some "Stuff". Me too.

Bill "66"

Hi, Bill!  I'm not lost anymore; I've been back online for a week or two, but the filters won't let me through - I suppose because I was gone too long. Go to the site (nnhss65 dot com) - click on Newsletters 2012 - and you can see where I am and how I'm trying to catch up with myself.  There were nearly 50 Memorial Editions which needed to be done while I was down - including your sweet sister's (  Debbie Hobbs - Class of 1972 - d. 03 June 2012) - and I'm about halfway done with them.

I'll send this note from another addy as well as this one in hopes that at least one makes it through to you.

My "stuff" has improved; yours will probably take longer, as people we love leave bigger holes in our hearts than frustrating machines which can be replaced...   My thoughts and prayers remain with you and Christine.

I found you! I feel better now! You don't know how much I have worried about you and while we have been distracted by life we will always have Paris and Buckroe too.

All my love to you and yours,

Bill & Christine

WHOO-HOO! I'm glad you found me again, Bill; I've missed being here! As the announcements have become so problematical, the safest thing to do would be to bookmark that Newsletter link, and just check it once or twice a day for new developments.

Wannabe

Written by Matt Rowe and
Richard Stannard

Recorded by Spice Girls, 1996

Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
really really wanna zigazig ha.

If you want my future forget my past,
If you wanna get with me better make it fast,
Now don't go wasting my precious time,
Get your act together we could be just fine

I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
really really wanna zigazig ha.

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends,
Make it last forever friendship never ends,
If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give,
Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is.

What do you think about that now you know how I feel,
Say you can handle my love are you for real,
I won't be hasty, I'll give you a try
If you really bug me then I'll say goodbye.

Yo I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
really really wanna zigazig ha.

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends,
Make it last forever friendship never ends,
If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give,
Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is.

So here's a story from A to Z, you wanna get with me
you gotta listen carefully,
We got Em in the place who likes it in your face,
we got G like MC who likes it on an
Easy V doesn't come for free, she's a real lady,
and as for me..ah you'll see,
Slam your body down and wind it all around
Slam your body down and wind it all around.

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends,
Make it last forever friendship never ends,
If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give,
Taking is too easy, but that's the way it is.

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta, you gotta, you
gotta,
you gotta, you gotta, slam, slam, slam, slam
Slam your body down and wind it all around.
Slam your body down and wind it all around.
Slam your body down and wind it all around.
Slam your body down zigazig ah
If you wanna be my lover.
