“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that
all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical
rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses
that are blooming outside our windows today.”

- Dale Carnegie

   OOH! Thank you, Jean!

From Me ('65) of NC - 08/18/17 - "Temperature Gauge Afghan, Fayetteville, NC, 01/01/17 to 07/01/17:

As promised, here's another update on my temperature gauge afghan. Using a size H hook, making the popcorn center polka-dots with a size B hook, and breaking the colors down into 10-degree increments:

101 + Burgundy
91-100 Cherry Red

81-90 Pumpkin
71-80 Cornmeal
61-70 Pale Yellow

51-60 Paddy Green
41-50 Honeydew
31-40 Royal Blue
21-30 Baby Blue
0-20 Lilac

After much angst and consideration, I have decided to split my afghan into two sections, each representing twenty-six weeks. It was just going to be too unmanageable otherwise.

This blanket is therefore complete, and I have begun working on the second.   Behold the first six months of 2017 in Fayetteville!

They're a quick way to create a little cheerful brightness."

There are so many uses for this pattern, from decorating kids apparel to a zipper pull on your purse. Or, if you don’t want your strawberry to be three-dimensional, just make one half of the berry and use it as a cute appliqué on kitchen linens! The sky is the limit!"

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 08/18/17:

I met my husband while I was working in a science library. He came in every week to read the latest journals and eventually decided to take out the librarian instead of the books.

After a year and a half of dating, he showed up at the library and started rummaging through my desk. I asked what he was looking for, but he didn’t answer. Finally he unearthed one of the rubber stamps I used to identify reference books.

“Since I couldn’t find the right engagement ring, this will have to do,” he said as he firmly stamped my hand.

Across my knuckles, in capital letters, it read... “NOT FOR CIRCULATION".

Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine
I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine
A million tomorrows shall all pass away
Ere I forget all the joy that is mine, today

I'll be a dandy, and I'll be a rover
You'll know who I am by the songs that I sing
I'll feast at your table, I'll sleep in your clover
Who cares what the morrow shall bring

Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine
I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine
A million tomorrows shall all pass away
Ere I forget all the joy that is mine, today

I can't be contented with yesterdays glory
I can't live on promises winter to spring
Today is my moment, now is my story
I'll laugh and I'll cry and I'll sing

Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine
I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine
A million tomorrows shall all pass away
Ere I forget all the joy that is mine, today

Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine
I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine
A million tomorrows shall all pass away
Ere I forget all the joy that is mine, today
