Judith Ann Head
(24 Aug 1947 - 29 July 2018)

Newport News High School / Ferguson High School Class of 1965

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   This is a fuller account of the sad news we reported earlier.  Judy Head, NNHS / Ferguson HS Class of 1965, passed away in Newport News on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the age of 70.

 From Rick Harman ('65) of VA - 08/03/18, 4:37 PM - " Judy Head":

Hi Carol,

Thank you for all of the hard work you do for everyone and as I read you have many personal challenges to contend with but still maintain. Amazing!

I read a very brief obituary on August 1 in the Daily Press regarding Judith Ann Head, age 70. I thought she went to school with us. I knew her, but not well.

Think this is someone that went to NNHS.

Thanks so much for looking into this. Take care of yourself and your husband.

Rick

   Oh, thank you so much, Rick. Possibly because I didn't really know Judy, but probably because it was such an abbreviated obituary, I missed this altogether.

   Judith Ann Head

    NEWPORT NEWS - Judith Ann Head passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018. She was born in Chester, England August 24, 1947, and came to America in 1953 with her mother, Alice. Most of her family still lives in England. She grew up in the Denbigh area of Newport News with her mom and stepdad. Judy graduated from Ferguson High School in 1965 and attended Riverside Nursing School where she graduated as an LPN in 1966. She worked on and off for Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Judy was a very loving, caring and giving person. After losing her legs in September 1993, she purchased a van and drove with hand controls. She was very involved with helping the elderly and started the company Ramps Across America. She would go out and get materials donated to build ramps from different places and held fund raisers so others would have a chance to get out of their homes more often.

I double dated on Prom night with Judy and her guy at the time. Not only did she loan me a pink formal dress, but she also fixed me up with a date for the occasion. I spent a year staying with Aunt Alice (Judy's mother). I was also taken to the New York World's Fair. What a wonderful year I had. I have many fond memories of my cousin Judy. She was a brave caring soul!

What Wondrous Love Is This?

Words by Alexander Means
Music by William Walker, 1835

What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss
To bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul,
To bear the dreadful curse for my soul.

When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down,
When I was sinking down, sinking down,
When I was sinking down beneath God痴 righteous frown,
Christ laid aside His crown for my soul, for my soul,
Christ laid aside His crown for my soul.

To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing;
To God and to the Lamb, I will sing.
To God and to the Lamb Who is the great 'I Am';
While millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing;
While millions join the theme, I will sing.

And when from death I知 free, I値l sing on, I値l sing on;
And when from death I知 free, I値l sing on.
And when from death I知 free, I値l sing and joyful be;
And through eternity, I値l sing on, I値l sing on;
And through eternity, I値l sing on.
