Bitsy was a wonderful kind Lady, I worked many Community Theater shows with her over the years often she and my mother performed in the same shows.
As my mother's Alzheimer's began to develop, Bitsy was there to often support to my dad and me. She will be missed by so many, yet her Mission of taking care of others will continue though the many nurses she mentored.

I can't believe that Ms. Heath has left us. I was first introduced to Ms. Heath in Fundamentals of Nursing at Hampton University, (I remember on a skills check off, she was sitting beside me asking can I hear the bump in the blood pressure or not - I could not let her down and tell her I could not hear it... she quickly figured it out when I gave her the wrong answer... she smiled and said "Child, try it again and give me the right answer"). Not only was she a great teacher and mentor, she later became a great friend of mine. There was never a moment that she did not take time to talk, teach, joke or even tell us when we were wrong. I know that GOD has claimed another angel in Ms. Heath. To Brinie and Mary, your mother talked about you so much, I thought you were my sisters. I will miss her as you will, please know you have an extended family here for you. May GOD continue to embrace, strengthen and love you all.

Mary, Briny and family,
Sorry for your loss. Ms. Heath was one of a kind. She indeed was one of the best Nursing Instructors that I have ever met. I credit her with mentoring me as I became an Adjunct Clinical Nursing Instructor under her Supervision at Hampton University. She was my confidante. I
will greatly miss her frequent telephone chats. She always talked about her precious daughters "Briny and Mary". May she rest in peace.

Briny, Mary and family, I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I will miss her and all the fun and jokes we had while teaching together at Hampton, then at lunches after she retired. Dear family of Bitsy Heath (That is what we called her),
I was a student nurse at Grace Hospital, School of Nursing in Richmond, Va, at the same time she was there; she was a year ahead if me, I have very fond memories of her and that wonderful sense of humor. She was my "Big Sister" when I was a freshman and was a lot of help learning all of the regulations that they had for us. One of the most important was helping getting my cap right - it was a bear!!!!!!! I have only seen her several times since graduation, but I was so proud of her accomplishment in her chosen profession and she was a splendid example of the training that we had. She was indeed a wonderful mother to her children. That was the kind of person that she was and always projected you, and you must have some wonderful memories.
I am sorry for you loss,and my prayers are with your family.
Take care
Love,

   As I told you as you were leaving that this is not good-bye, this is just until we meet again, and until that happens there will be a hole in my heart, waiting for you to fill. Again thank you for all your love unconditionally.

    From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL - 08/08/12, 10:43 AM - "  Bette Lee Heath (Deceased)":

Hi, Carol:
What a pleasant surprise to find your Newsletter today. Glad you are back and running again. Nice to have you back, for you sure have been missed.

The obituary for Bette Lee "Bitsy" Heath, NNHS 1957, of VA did not mention one important "Small World" fact.
She worked as a Nurse at the Kecoughtan Veterans Administration Hospital, after she completed nursing training and most likely knew your late father
-       Robert Buckley (John Marshall HS - '25) (19 Oct 1907 - 25 Apr 1960) - while working at that facility.

TYPHOON Regards,
Joe Madagan ('57) of FL

   WOWZERS! I had never considered such a possibility! Thanks so much, Sweet Adonis - you made my day with that happy thought!

  Y'all take good care of each other!  TYPHOONS FOREVER! We'll Always Have Buckroe!

                          Love to all, Carol

 O God, Our Help in Ages Past

Words by Isaac Watts, The Psalms of David, 1719 (based on Psalm 90)
(17 July 1674 - 25 Nov 1748)

Music, St. Anne, by
William Croft, 1708
(10 Dec 1678 - 14 Aug 1727)

1. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.

2. Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.

4. Thy Word commands our flesh to dust,
“Return, ye sons of men”:
All nations rose from earth at first,
And turn to earth again.

5. A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

6. The busy tribes of flesh and blood,
With all their lives and cares,
Are carried downwards by the flood,
And lost in foll’wing years.

7. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the op’ning day.

8. Like flow’ry fields the nations stand
Pleased with the morning light;
The flow’rs beneath the mower’s hand
Lie with’ring ere ’tis night.

9. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home.
