One Summer Night

“Oh, the summer night
Has a smile of light
And she sits on a sapphire throne.

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Y'all know I'm a big sucker for dreamy old songs such as this - plus this particular summer night brings with it a new moon!

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT4LJxBBaF0 - One Summer Night - The Danleers, 1958

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Danleers

The Danleers was an American doo-wop group in the 1950s. They were a quintet hailing from Brooklyn, New York. Jimmy Weston was the lead singer, and the group was named after their manager, Danny Webb, who wrote their most famous number, "One Summer Night". The track was originally released on AMP-3 2115, as being by The Dandleers...

Their one big hit single (and their debut single), "One Summer Night" (b/w "Wheelin and A-Dealin'"), reached #4 on the Billboard Black Singles chart, and #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1958.[1]

From the President of the Class of 1965, Joe Wingo of NC - 07/30/25 - "Class of '65 reunion":

Dear Carol,

The reunion committee has asked me to request you to re- post my letter from a couple of months ago regarding classmates participation in the process...

More importantly, I hope this note finds you and your family in great spirits and excellent health.

All my best. And a big thank you.

Joe

   Thank you, Joe Sweetie!

“Attention NNHS Class of 1965 Graduates”

Your reunion committee is beginning the process of organizing our 50th reunion celebration. While in the very preliminary stages, what is needed to move forward with a more definitive plan is an expression of interest from each and every classmate. H.P. Lucas has graciously offered to be the point person for this effort. You may contact him by e-mail at hpllgl@juno.com to convey your thoughts. As the level of participation becomes more defined, the committee will then be in a position to supply a thorough synopsis of what our reunion festivities will look like.

My sincere hope is that each of you are well. May the upcoming holiday season bring you peace and joy.

I look forward to a tremendous turnout for our 50th and I look forward to seeing you all again. Remember, age is only a state of mind.

Best wishes,

Joe Wingo

I wish you all the best time ever at the Reunion!

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 07/30/15:

A man was in a pawnshop and spotted a beautiful Grandfather Clock and ended up buying it. He asked the owner if he could deliver the clock, and the owner replied that he did not make deliveries.

So only living a few blocks away, the man decided to strap the clock on his back and carry it the short distance.

After a block or so, a drunk came staggering out of a bar and bumped into the man, knocking him down on his back and smashing the clock to bits.

The man jumped up and started cussing out the drunk, saying, "Look what you did to my beautiful clock, you idiot!”

The drunk replied, "Gee, buddy, I’m really sorry. Why don’t you wear a wristwatch like everyone else?"

One Summer Night

Written by Danny Webb

Recorded by The Danleers, 1958

One summer night, we fell in love
one summer night, I held you tight
you and I, under the moon of love, moon of love

One summer night, I kissed your lips
one summer night, I held you close
you and I, under the moon of love

You kissed me oh, so tenderly
and I knew this was love
and I as held you, oh so close
I knew no one could ever take your place, ohhhh

One summer night, we fell in love
one summer night, I held you tight
you and I, under the moon of love, moon of love
