White Rabbit

“The other day when I was walking through the woods, I saw a rabbit
standing in front of a candle making shadows of people on a tree.”

- Steven Wright
(b. 06 Dec 1955)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

There are some cute little bunny rabbits that often play in our back yard here in Fayetteville. They're not white, but.....

BONUS #1 - - White Rabbit and Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane appearing on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, 1967

BONUS #2 - - White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane with Disney movie clip

"White Rabbit" is a psychedelic rock/acid rock song from Jefferson Airplane's 1967 album Surrealistic Pillow. It was released as a single and became the band's second top ten success, peaking at #8[1] on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was ranked #483 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time,[2] #27 on Rate Your Music's Top Singles of All Time and appears on The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

“White Rabbit” was written by Grace Slick while she was still with The Great Society. When that band broke up in 1966, Slick was invited to join Jefferson Airplane to replace their departed female singer Signe Toly Anderson, who left the band with the birth of her child. The first album Slick recorded with Jefferson Airplane was Surrealistic Pillow, and Slick provided two songs from her previous group: her own “White Rabbit” and “Somebody to Love”, written by Darby Slick and recorded under the title "Someone to Love" by The Great Society. Both songs became breakout successes for Jefferson Airplane and have since been associated with that band...[3]

From - 07/29/15:

While sports fishing off the Florida coast, a tourist capsized his boat. He could swim, but his fear of alligators kept him clinging to the overturned craft. Spotting an old beachcomber standing on the shore, the tourist shouted, "Are there any gators around here?"

"Naw," the man hollered back, "they ain't been around for years!"

Feeling safe, the tourist started swimming leisurely toward the shore. About halfway there he asked the guy, "How'd you get rid of the gators?"

"We didn't do nothing,'" the beachcomber said.

"Wow," said the tourist.

The beachcomber added, "The sharks got 'em."

White Rabbit

Words and Music by Grace Slick (b. 30 Oct 1939)

Recorded by Jefferson Airplane, 1967

One pill makes you larger
and one pill makes you small
and the ones that mother gives
you don't do anything at all -
go ask Alice, when she was just small.

And if you go chasing rabbits
and you know you're gonna fall
tell 'em a hookah
smoking caterpiller has given you the call
for Alice, when she was ten feet tall.

While men on the chessboard
get up and tell you where you go
and you've just had some kind of mushroom
and your mind is moving on - go ask Alice - I think she'll know.

When logic and proportion
have fallen - sloppy dead
and the white knight is talking backwards
and the Red Queen says
"Off with her head," remember what the Dormouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head."
