Sealed with a Kiss

“A kiss seals two souls for a moment in time.”

- Levende Waters

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Mmmm - this golden oldie makes me want to dance...  Actually, it reminds me of all those great summer dances we had:

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIkUiD8N81k - Sealed with a Kiss - Brian Hyland

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealed_with_a_Kiss:

"Sealed with a Kiss" is the title of a song written by Peter Udell and Gary Geld. It was first recorded by The Four Voices in 1960 as a single, but their recording was not a hit.

In 1962, Brian Hyland, who often performed Udell and Geld's material, covered the song. Hyland's single was a hit, reaching #3 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. When re-released in 1975, Hyland's recording charted in the UK at # 7. Hyland also recorded a version in German.

Gary Lewis and the Playboys released a single in 1968. Their cover version was a Billboard #19 hit and placed high on the Hot 100.

A third Top 40 Hot 100 version came in 1972, when Bobby Vinton released a single, again reaching #19 in the Billboard singles charts. This version also placed high on Billboard's adult contemporary chart. Bobby Vinton's recording was used in both the trailer and end credits of the 2007 film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane...

UPDATE:

From Malcolm Davis ('65) of VA - 07/27/13 - "    Jamey (Douglas) Bacon ('66 - of VA) Mission Project update. Bricking the driveway is planned for next Thursday and Friday":

Excerpt from our church bulletin for tomorrow:

THANK YOU NOTES from…

Malcolm Davis - My thanks to the Youth Mission Team for spending the day working at Jamey Bacon's home on Tuesday this week. They scraped, painted, power washed, replaced a back door, removed a dead tree, cleaned a gutter, repaired window sills, replaced glass panes, located an underground drainage pipe, visited with Jamey and had lunch with her. They were a delight to Jamey who enjoys visitors and is always grateful for a helping hand. Upkeep of a home is difficult for the handicapped and this one day of service surely made a difference to her home and yard.

SUPER-DE-DUPER! Thanks so much, Malcolm, to both you and your dear  Polly (Norris Davis - '65) for all your valiant efforts! A special thanks to the Youth Mission Team as well!

From Mickey ('54) and   Carol Moell ('56) Marcella of VA - 07/27/13, 9:14 AM - "Re: Friday Evening - NNHS - Seven More Editions":

Thanks, Carol. Hope you and         Paul (Harty - Bardolph HS, IL - '61 - of NC) are doing well.

Mickey and Carol Marcella

Thanks so much, Sweetie-Pies! Paul continues to improve, and I'm at least not getting any worse (I hope)!

From Butch Ragland ('63) of CO - 07/27/13:

Hi Carol & Paul,

I am thankful Paul's surgery appears to have been successful! Ethel and I send our prayers for his continued successful recovery and hope to see you both this October for the NNHS 63 Reunion! I realize it isn't your class, but you know we would all love to see you; especially since you are the one who works so hard to keep all us old Typhoon together!

God Bless you both!

Butch & Ethel

Thank you so much, Butch and Ethel, we really appreciate that! But, ah, I don't see how we can come to your reunion for a variety of reasons. I think we could probably pop for the lodging, but the reunion fees themselves are way outside the range of our budget, our transportation at this moment remains dicey at best, and our health issues are by no means stabilized. But the number one reason we cannot attend is - we weren't invited!

Over the years I have acquired a healthy dose of chutzpah for a little old Mormon lady, but even I wouldn't dream of crashing a party to which I'd not been invited!

But y'all are going to have an amazing time, so give everyone our love!

From Judy Phillips Allen ('66) of VA - 07/27/13 - " 'I'm NOT Crazy!' (These are hilarious!) (#1 in a series of 25)":

  I'm NOT Crazy!

   Thanks, Dearest Judy!

BONUS KISS CROCHET PATTERN:

http://www.crochetspot.com/crochet-pattern-kiss-me-bag/ - Claire Ortega's Kiss Me Bag - "Tote this little bag along on a quick errand, or a date! Using sparkly yarn makes this great for formal events, too. Small yet sturdy, it can accommodate your essentials: wallet, cellphone and keys. I named the bag “Kiss Me” because the handle looks like shapely lips, adding visual interest and lending a natural grip for your hands."

BONUS SEALED WITH A KISS RECIPES:

http://spoonful.com/recipes/peanut-butter-cookies-sealed-kiss - Peanut Butter Cookies Sealed with a Kiss - "Get in the holiday spirit, with these peanut butter and chocolate cookies."

http://www.cakespy.com/blog/2011/5/18/sealed-with-a-kiss-potato-kisses-recipe.html - Sealed with a Kiss: Potato Kisses Recipe - "You may not know this, but during the Great Depression, when many ingredients were scarce, an unexpected ingredient had a bit of a heyday in the world of confectionery: the Potato!..."

http://www.allthingsthrifty.com/2012/11/brownie-cookie-recipe-sealed-with-kiss.html - Brownie Cookie Recipe {sealed with a KISS} - "I made six dozen of these cookies last night for a church event. They were really easy and delicious..."

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 07/2713:

A man gets home, runs into his house, slams the door and shouts, "Honey, I just won the lottery! Pack your bags!"

The wife says, "Great! What should I pack for? The ocean or the mountains?"

He says, "I don't care! Just be out by the end of the week!"

Sealed with a Kiss

Written by Gary Geld and Peter Udell, 1960

Recorded by
Brian Hyland (b. 12 Nov 1943), 1962

Though we've got to say good-bye
For the summer
Darling, I promise you this
I'll send you all my love
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss

CHORUS:
Yes it's gonna be cold, lonely summer
But I'll fill the emptiness
I'll send you all my dreams
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss

I'll see you in the sunlight
I'll hear your voice everywhere
I'll run to tenderly hold you
But, Darlin' you won't be there

I don't wanna say good-bye
For the summer
Knowing the love we'll miss
Let us make a pledge
To meet in September
And seal it with a kiss

(instrumental)

(CHORUS)
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss
