Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   

    We have more sad news to report this Wednesday.    Michael Morgan, Bethel HS Class of 1979, brother of Zeb Morgan ('61), passed away in Newport News on Sunday, July 15, 2014 at the age of 55.

                   Michael Alan Morgan

   

HAMPTON - Michael Alan Morgan, 55, passed away July 14, 2014, with his family by his side in Hampton, VA.

Born May 3, 1959, he was a lifelong resident of Hampton, and a graduate from Bethel High School, Class of 1979.

Retired from the Langley Commissary (ARC), he was a faithful employee for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Zebulon and Vergie Morgan of Rowan County, North Carolina.

He is survived by his two brothers, Zebulon (Brenda) Morgan, Jr., and Jonathan (Ruth) Morgan; nephew, Tyler (Wendy) Morgan, niece, Karen (Jason) Botts, and niece, Jennifer (Mickey) Evans and other extended family and friends.

Michael was a memorable, caring individual with a love of art and classic country music and especially loved spending time with his loyal dog, Bud.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Peninsula Funeral Home at 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the funeral home. Graveside service to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, VA. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and I will always cherish my childhood memories of us growing up in Hampton. I am proud to his cousin and I wish that I could have shared that with him personally before he passed away.

Our deepest condolences to Michael's family. He was such a kind and caring person who always had time to stop and share some of his fond memories of growing up and living in the neighborhood. We will miss seeing him.
